A question - what can I use to keep my cat out of my neighbor's flower garden. I read about mothballs and that scares me...anyone know of any herbal product available that will deter my beloved Stormy from ruining my dear neighbor's flower beds? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi!

Mothballs are poisonous to cats, according to the Cornell Book of Cats. Cats are like kids and like to put things in their mouths. Don't use them. Pet stores have various things you can use to keep cats away from plants, gardens, etc. Although I have never used them because my cats are all indoors, you'd have to call the pet store and ask them the names. Or talk to your vet.

Anyone else know of anything that works?

Good luck.

What kind of damage is your cat doing? Do you know the neighbors well??

We're very good friends and he's been really nice about it but it's getting a bit touchy so I don't want to alienate him and have him not like my cat. He cat sits for me when I have to go out of town so I'd like to keep things on a very friendly basis.

Spring is coming soon and I know he'll be out planting new stuff in his yard.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Well, it depends on what he is doing to the flower bed, If Stormy is going to the bathroom, then the best way to handle that is to put some chicken wire just under the dirt, or pine chips, rocks, pinecones. If Stormy is eating the plants, then you need to get a bitter spray safe for plants.
