I began feeding an adult male feral and a wild kitten last summer. Turns out he was instead a stray who is now doing very well at socializing. He still prefers to be outside but will come in if I leave the door open. The kitten is now about 1 year old and is also basically an outside cat although I think she could adapt easily to being indoors. Both have been neutered. They really enjoy being together.

We're going to be moving next spring and changing our lifestyle so that we'll be gone at least 3 months every summer. I don't see any way that we can take these free spirits with us. It really looks like I need to find homes for them. Our local non-kill shelter is being shut down and we live in an area where animals are more often dumped, not adopted. (2 Great Danes dumped at my door in March & a boxer in April.)

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to go about placing these 2 kitties. Part of my apprehension is because neither is a lap cat. In fact all of the interaction with them is always on their terms. I'd hate to place them and then have them treated poorly because they won't "perform" to someone's expectations.
