My cat has recently goten pregnant, she is about 10 months old and about 45 - 50 days pregnant. She is a petite kitty and her mate has a very large head (I think hes part persian) i am woried that it may complicate her pregnancy because they may not fit through her opening, does anybody have advice for this situation or am i just worrying for nothing.

As they mature, intact male cats develop "stud jowls" which make their heads appear a lot larger than they really are. Just a thought ...

At 10 months, your girl is a little young to be having kittens and since she is young as well as petite, you will most certainly want to be available and nearby her when she begins to deliver in case she needs your assistance. If you haven't already, you might want to read this article: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46743

Are you a breeder?

Nope not a breeder, she got out before i could get her fixied , i thought she was too young to develop babies. I plan on geting her fixed after the kittens are weaned. I plan on keeping two kittens and the rest i will find a home for(hoepfully there are just two).

Make sure the kittens are spayed and neutered before giving them to new homes because who knows if the new owners will be responsible enough to do it. It can be done at 12 weeks or 2 pounds but for some reason some vets won't do it until 6 months. Find one that will do it sooner as cats can have babies at 5 months. Also don't GIVE them away, charge an adoption fee to be sure they don't go to someone who wants to harm them.

The big head tom is a neighborhood cat not sure whos but someone is taking care of him because he has a collar with a bell on it. If i find the owner i should see if they can donate money for the spay and neuter cost for the kittens.
On a side note is it normal for pregnant cats to not clean there buts , its dirty all the time lately, i figure she is having a hard time reaching it.

Here is a new link for my cats homepage pregnant misty

The "big head" is something that tom cats develop in adulthood when they have not been neutered. Just loike gayef said above. So the kittens should not have enlarged heads when they are born. However, if you notice Misty in distress during delivery, you should bring her to the vet asap! It is possible for a kitten to get stuck in the birth canal and this is more likely in younger cats. We have been seeing this frequently in the last few weeks at the emergency clinic I work at. Although, the great majority of cats deliver kittens with very few complications. You should have the number to the nearest emergency clinic on hand just in case she starts having problems in the middle of the night. Also, I have a book that gives some good info about what to expect/norms for when Misty goes into labor. The Cat Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook Chapters 15-17 has some really good info about pregnancy, kittening and reproduction. The rest of the book has info about other areas of cat care, so if you don't want to buy it you might be able to just go to a library and find it. Good luck and keep us updated about Misty and her soon to be kids!

Well misty was acting weird today, she was in the litter box for over 10 miniutes scratching around, i thought maybe she was gonna give birth in there , i read somewhere that sometimes first time mothers will do that, so i ran over and lifted up her tail and i got something else instead poping out
, oh well. Should be anyday now ,I will be glad when this is over.
