Dear Members, Contributors and Readers,

As co-moderator of The Cat Site Behavior Forum, I wanted to take a moment and say a few things about what we're all about here.

This forum is a place to ask general questions about your cat's behavior, and to seek information when you are confused by it.

THIS FORUM IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE THE GOOD ADVICE AND SOUND OPINIONS OF YOUR VETERINARIAN.

If you cat's behavior suddenly changes, the first rule is to have your vet do a complete examination including lab work for both blood and urine. Changes in behavior are normally caused by either 1) Health problems or 2) Environmental issues. Your vet can help you determine if health problems are the culprit, and what you can do to treat them. Environmental issues may be more of a puzzle, but the first line of defense in determining the cause of environmental issues is a CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH.

So for those of you who have come here looking for answers, please see your vet FIRST. If you have questions about what he has to say, then please feel free to either ask him to expand or as an alternative, post your questions here. They may be someone who has had some experience.
