No she won't and what she is doing now is natural not nasty. DON'T let her outside, trust me she will try. Her instinct is to find a male and if your windows are open they will smell her and spray the outside of your home with their scent.

Yeah buy earplugs and don't lose patience with her. She is driven by instinct and can't help it. You can get her spayed now, but you need to let the vet know she is in estrus and some vets won't do the operation until the cycle is finished, while others will do it and charge a bit more.

Huh.. my girl kitten is 10 months now and I dont think shes ever gone into heat O_O or maybe shes just one of those cats who act like they are in heat when they arent? She always has been a talker, and since she was even 8 weeks old she put her bum up in the air when you petted her (learned that from her mum) O_O Maybe she just doesnt have it as severe as regular cats or like I said above she is just lovey all the time :p SHe is always wanting love/pettings :p Eh I dont know O_O

MZCloudy: Get her spayed as soon as she comes out of heat and yes, watch her very closely to see she doesn't escape...

BigORangeMenace: I would do the same and get your girl spayed ASAP.

Queens in estrus will often break from normal, appropriate litter box behavior during their cycle. A lot even spray - it is their way of depositing their scent for males to find them so they can breed.

Keep her confined to one room, preferably a dimly-lit, cool room with her litter box, food and water bowls - it will ease her symptoms a bit and provide you with a safety net against accidents (which really aren't accidents at all - they are quite on purpose).

Depends on the cat, but if this is your girl's first cycle, I would hazard a guess that she will be in estrus for about 10 days or so, give or take. And if she isn't spayed, then she will come in again in about 19 to 21 days, and again every 19 to 21 days thereafter until she is either bred or spayed.

Hello.  I have a kitten that is possessed(sp?) with heat cycles right now.  I feel so bad because she acts like she's completely miserable.  I read your posts, and tried confining her to a bedroom with litter box, food/water, her bed, etc., and she freaks out and has been tearing up the bottom of the door, and last night I found that she has torn the carpeting right by the door!  We've been going thru this for a few weeks, and it will be another week before her appt. to get her fixed.  I have been trying to distract her or keep her mind on other things, like playing with her ball~this kitten was born to play soccer, and to fetch balls, she catches them, stops them, and can launch it at me with her paws, and has just dropped one in my lap telling me, "ITS TIME"~my arm is sore from throwing this thing!!!  Anyway, I can't confine her, so we are ALL going thru this craziness together.  It will be nice to get my cat back, and be able to get some sleep at night.   I just hope she isn't too miserable.
