Pictures of my foster dove...

Ok, so she's not really my foster dove, she just sort of took over one of the ferns in my garden as a good nesting place. Now that the doves are getting big I really worry about them since I live in an apartment with several outdoor cats. I'll just keep a good eye on them.


Here is when they were REALLY tiny and you can barely see the fuzzy head of one of them.


A little bigger and still feeding.

I used to have white doves when I was a kid. I even raised a few from birth. The squabs (baby dove) are rather clumsy when they get the desire to leave the nest. I definitely would keep an eye on them and your cats (if you don't want them to be a meal).

Just as a side note, the mother dove typically watches the squabs during the day. The father dove typically watches them in the evening hours and over nght!!

Oh how pretty!

Yeah, it's not my cats I worry about - they are completely indoor - but my neighbors. There is only so much I can do.

That's interesting about the father! I had thought sometimes Momma dove looked really different, maybe it was actually Pappa!
