A Challenge to all you catpersons...

the lady again. His heart pounded! He had no idea what she was going to do to him. He was sick and couldn't bear to move on.

"I'm sorry little kitty, I feel terrible I was so cruel." My daughter is crying and it breaks my heart to have been so unkind to you. She leaned over towards him. She held an opened can of tuna; the smell was overwhelming and he couldn't resist approaching her.

She lifted him up carefully and brought him inside to the warmth of their home.

She filled his bowl and set it down before him. He crawled towards it fearing it would be taken away again. He meowed weakly while looking at the woman who saved him. For the first time he felt safe, warm and hope. He bent over the dish and his mouth began to water before his first bite. Finally, food! He began to eat while the lady's eyes began to tear. The little girl came into the room shocked in disbelief that her mother would save him. He was weak, but as he ate, he began to feel renewed. His vision was clear and he could hear himself purring loudly. The little girl reached down and exclaimed..."Mommy, his name, he needs a name!" Oh my...let's see...

...oh my let's see...meanwhile the wind howled outside and the sleet bleat against the glass windows. Storm! We'll call him Storm! Little Storm, managed a weak kitty grin. At last he he had warm house live in and people to love. The Mom and daughter looked down at their little blessing named Storm and he struggled over to their legs to give them a thank you rub. It was a perfect scene, but all of sudden a huge crash interrupted their bliss and in came bounding...

....the tiny mouse, who had all but been forgotten. He looked up at the cat, and said, " Why did you leave me, I thought we were friends?" and the cat, purring, and happy in his new home, suddenly realized, he could not leave the mouse behind. So he purred, and rubbed up against the mouse, to show his new owners, that this was his friend. At first the girl and her mother were skeptical. Who wants a mouse in the house? But seeing how much the Cat loved the mouse, they could not resist. So the little girl scooped up the tiny mouse, and kissed him on the end of his tiny nose, and named him "Miracle" because it was a miracle that he had led the cat to them.

Just then the father entered the room.........

...with the huge golden retreiver he had found wandering aimlessly in the snow. "Look what found me!...he laughed nervously, as he hoped his wife would accept his new found treasure. The little girl leaped towards the dog in joy and the mother smiled. "Well, it looks like we're all filled with surprises!"

Storm looked closely at the man...and then, gazed up at the lady and little girl. He was in disbelief! The man looked just like the cameraman at the Martha Stewart show and the lady... Martha Stewart??!! Then there was the little girl with ribbons and bows in her hair; wrapped in her arms, he felt warm and safe like the basket he was in! Could it be the same dog too!

The man looked down at the cat and mouse and smiled. " It looks like we have our Christmas presents. Now our home is complete."

With that, they finished feeding their grateful companions and made their way to the fireplace for cigars and champagne.

I've been reading this story since it began, and wondering where it might end...I couldnt have asked for a better ending!
It made my eyes well up with tears several times, some in sadness, but finally with joy.

You guys are great, no wonder I spend so much time here!

I love happy endings! That was fun! All the different people writing gave it so many twists and turns; you never knew what would happen next!

Yeah KF.... thanks for starting this one as it was fun.

Everyone... Well KF not only started this story he used the begining of this story to write me a very special Christmas story. Even though the begining is the same the rest of the story is different. When I get time one day I will post the story he wrote for me.
