What could be going on??

About a week ago, Minmin started hacking or hiccuping as soon as she gets up in the morning. She comes and stands in our bedroom and does this which obviously awakens us. It only lasts a short while and we don't hear it again until the next morning. She has no problems eating or drinking and seems fine other than that. Has anyone ever experienced this with their furry friend? Should I be alarmed? I am taking her to the vet in couple of weeks to have her spayed and will have this investigated if it persists. Thanks everyone.

Is it possible that Minmin is eating before coming to your room and hacking? Sometimes kitties eat and drink too fast first thing in the morning.

Hairballs would be my guess.

She always eats after we get up so I know it's not caused by eating. And she doesn't do it after she's been drinking. And I don't believe it's hairballs.
She seems to be doing this when she gets up from her sleeping position. It lasts a little while then goes away.
I really don't know what it could be but will have it investigated by the vet in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I'm baffled.

Hmm... maybe your kitty is just not a morning person. I know that I feel like hacking when I first get up in the morning.

We've had Minmin for a year now and she has never done this until a week ago. I only hope it's not a symptom of the beginning of something serious. I'm worried.
