First I would like to say hello to everyone
Sylvestor has fully recovered from the nasty cyst he had and is doing well. Suki is feisty as ever, but now with the disppearance of Nermal, my mom is looking into getting a new cat to add to the family, but wants a very specific kind. I'm not sure what type of cat this is, but I believe he/she is a Himalayan. I am wondering if anyone knows where I could look for one? Or, maybe someone knows someone? I don't know. I've looked on the internet for persians and himalayan's both, and I have come up empty -handed. Money is really tight, and I am sick to my tummy looking at the prices of some of these persians, lol.

here is a picture of what she is looking for

I am at least hoping someone could tell me what kind of cat this is excatly. Thank you for any and all help and best wishes

Yep, that's a Himalayan! Looks almost just like my Rusty, for that matter! One word of caution, though, you do know that they need to be kept in the house full-time, don't you?

Yea, we have taken this into account. Only one of our cat's is allowed outside, and that's mine. Nermal discovered that he could be superman and fly off the deck, and he did it this last time and we never saw him again. Noone can find him and it's been well over a week that he disappeared. However, back on topic, my mom wants a cat that is... a little high maintence I guess you could say. Since her health is not as good as it use to be, she wants something to occupy her time at home since she rarely leaves the house, so I figured, or hoped rather, something like this would be good for her. It is good to know that is a Himalayan. Is it a certain type of Himalayan? I mean, based on colors and such is there a certain name like some Persians have and such? Thank you for the response

Lol, you could say that they're a pet project of mine...I used to breed 'em.....that's why I now have five! Techincally, when you register a Himmy, the papers will come back as Himalayan/Persian. That's because a Himmy is just a certain color variation of a Persian. It will have points like a Siamese, but the long hair and body type of a Persian. This particular color point in your picture is a seal point, which my Rusty is. Here is a link to a short article that I wrote for TCS about these sweet kitties, anything else you need to know, just feel free to ask. Thanks!

Oh gosh what an awesome article. This makes me want to locate one for my mother even more
Of course, I want to get her one excatly like the picture because that is what she has her heart set on. Do you think you could recommend a way for me to look into getting one? I've checked a breeder list that I found on this site for breeders in Georgia, but I came up empty, and I'm afraid at the cost of one of those kitties honestly. I'm open to any options, and I will soon be checking local shelters just to see if I can come up with something there as well. Thank you so very much

It does look like a himi. I had to save the picture and zoom in on it to see the face. from a distance it also looks like a Ragdoll.

I think it's a himi. Much to hairy for a ragdoll. If he/she got a nose, it's probably is a doll faced himi.

You're very welcome! Can you pick up a Cat Fancy magazine somewhere? There are usually a lot of listings for breeders, by breed in it. A bit of advice here though? Look for one that says that the kittens are raised "in house" or "underfoot", as these kittens have been properly socialised with people, and often other pets. Kitties raised in a cattery separate from people will never have the same temperment that in house ones do (if you don't believe me, aske Gayef and Sandie!). Ask to see the mom and dad, if the cattery owns both...I'm sure I can think of more, lol!

Omgosh thank you! I found the perfect cat for her, but $85 for the adoption fee is not within my means right now. Anyone want to buy me a present? Lol... oh woe is me you guy's. Take a look at this kitten.

She's an 8 seal-point, no name, and still up for adoption I assume. Maybe if I can't, someone else might be able to help this little one out. I have stuff to sell and such, so I am going to do everything I can to save her.

Your welcome hope it works out ok for you. and you can get her. I thought I would send it to you. because well its going to be cheaper to get one from a shelter than a breeder, and you save a life.

Just a note... it appears the kitten we found had 4 pending applications already for her adoption and she was expected to be adopted by the end of today based on what the shelter told us. We are going to call in the morning and if she is still there, we have a chance. Thank you all so much for your continuous help over the past few days.
