Hey all, we just bought a nice 3 level condo unit that has open riser stairs. I'm a little worried about our 2 very very active catkids getting themselves into trouble or hurt on them.

Anybody have open riser stairs? Am I just being an over protective catmommy? I mean, they're not total idiots. They just chase each other like crazy kitties all over this apartment, and I assume once they get into this much bigger place, the chasing games will be even better.

Also, anyone ever close up open riser stairs? I personally am not real crazy about the way they look, so I was just curious what kind of project closing them up is.

Thanks.

My folks have those kind of stairs, and their cats have never really had a problem. Their stairs are carpeted, so the cats have always been able to grab on to something. The cement stairs outside my apartment are also open. I saw some kitties playing around underneath them. Again, I didn't notice any problems with balance or falling.
