A little while ago I was sitting in my living room and Mooch and Noodles were settling down for naps. Mooch tends to sleep on this big black sweater I throw on the couch and Noodles sleeps next to it. Well I noticed that Mooch was purring really loud. Then I saw that she was kneading the sweater and had her face to it like she was trying to suckle! She was laying as if she were too. But she kept stopping to get fuzz our of her mouth! It was cute but poor kitty! Do you think shes doing that for a reason other than it's big, black, and warm and fuzzy? She stoped by the time I got my camera on and over there.

Garfield sucks on Lexie's giant furry toy horse every night, and sometimes during the day. She is taking it to a sleepover tonight, and we had to clean the horse's fur where Gar has it all stiff from his sucking!

I told my mother and she thinks I should get them a big stuffed toy to sleep with, but I think the fact that it doesnt respond might freak them out!

Just like a kid, I don't think you can choose the lovey object for a pet. If they are latched onto the sweater, that's what comforts them.

When dd was a baby, she latched onto a small stuffed horse as her lovey object. We bought her the exact same horse because she loved all the fur off "Horsie's" tail. She named the new horse "New", said in a very degrading tone. New is now considered to be Horsie's girlfriend, but is not at all special.

They sell pillows now covered in pretty colors of fur. We considered getting one for Gar, but figured he wouldn't like it. Besides, with a 9 y/o girl, a giant horse, and 2 cats, I don't think her bed can hold much more!

My Joey does the same thing with certain blankets. I think that, like some children, they just need to suckle longer. Personally, I think that it's cute
and when I see Joey doing it, I cuddle & pet him, just like his mom would've done. I'm glad that you're not freaking out about it!
I hope you can get a pic to share soon. BTW, Mooch & Noodles are really cute names, if you posted how you named them, I missed it, so maybe you can let us know. In fact, I'll try to start a post about that same subject. Susan
