New to the Site...

Hi! My name's Nikki, and I just stumbled on this site on May 7th.
I have two gorgeous cats. One is a Manx cross who will be 2 yrs. old in August, and a Himilayan / Persian cross who was 1 yr. old on May 3rd
The Manx's name is Max, and he's quite big with a little stubby tail. He's not very big into cuddling, but he sure likes to play with yarn!!!
The Himilayan's name is Serena, and she is my baby girl! She's very small for her age, being the runt of the litter, and has had some problems with being sick. In the first month, she had a cold, and that lasted for just over a month. She is only 5 pounds, so I'm not sure if I can get her spayed or not. If anyone has any info on that, let me know. Serena LOVES to cuddle, and her purr is soooo loud! She'll wake me up in the night by purring! She also has a red bird on a string that makes a bird sound when it's squeezed, and she'll play fetch with it! It's the cutest thing... She also will sit, and dance, for treats! She's very smart, and will come when called.
I just figured I'd come on and brag a little, and if anyone has any helpful tips on spaying, or bringing in a new kitten to a home where Serena is the Princess, let me know!!!

As far as I know (and I know an expert will be along to answer), the vet's I've worked with would spay her, as long as she didn't have any respiratory or heart problems.

I had a 4 pound American shorthair-x that was spayed.
She was born to an unusally large litter to an undersized mother, hence her small size.
Her tail had been broken in 3 places in utero, it was so cramped in there.

My "grandkitty" Mika is just over 4 lbs and she is almost 1 yr. old. She was also a runt. She was spayed much before she was 4 lbs. She does have a birth defect and a deformed voicebox and the vet said she came out of the anaesthetic much too quickly and they almost lost her. But she has been a very healthy little girl other than the birth defect.
