our 2 year old blue point siamese has stopped using his litter box except to pee. We have another cat and he's no problem. We've used as many a 3 boxes simultaneouly but to no avail. Most of the time he simply goes just outside the box although we have found some doings behind a sofa. Does anyone have similar problems or suggestions as how to deal with this?

Nonuse of litterbox to defecate

Well, the first thing you need to do is get him to the vet to rule out any sort of medical problems.
Once you've ruled out physical issues...it becomes a behavioral thing which is trickier. Have things changed at all in your house lately? New pets? New people? New brand of litter? Even new furniture? Been away from home a lot lately?
Cats are very perceptive little buggers, and changes which seems minor to us can really throw them off.
But, first, to the vet!
