I live in Baltimore too.
I don't know where you are planning to get your cat in the future, but do you know about Defenders of Animal Rights in Phoenix? They are a no destroy rescue place that do wonderful work, and the cats are quite happy there (they have a huge room to themselves, cage free, with couches placed for ppl to look at them). They also do all the vet work prior to adoption, even if the pet is injured. We took a dog there who was hit by a car, and left on the side of the road. They charged us nothing, and gave him complete care and recovery time until he was adopted out.

They also accept visitors at anytime to hang/play with the cats.
I adopted Smidgen a coupla weeks ago from there.

I'm in Anne Arundel County, and I've just been adopted by the new love of my life, Tigger, an 8 week old Domestic Shorthair.
He has a big job to do, which is help heal the big hole in my heart which was created when my 17 year old Domestic Longhair, Sparky, was euthanized.
He's doing a good job so far. He's brought more love and laughter into my house.
I've never seen an American Curl. Guess I need to find some pictures! Good luck with your search!
