dog killed cat $45000 fine?

Dont know if I heard this right nor if someone has already posted about it. But on Radio 4 this morning in the news apparently a dog in Seattle had killed the next door cat I dont know when. Anyway the bloke admitted liability and was ordered to pay something like $30K and $15K in emotional compensation
did i miss this somewhere?
