Hi everyone. We're a couple with our first kitten that we adopted from our landlady. The story is that she found him wandering around the parking lot alone at a month old. She couldn't adopt another cat, so therefore asked us if we want to keep him since we mentioned that we want to get a cat someday.

Anyway, we need help with litter training. Litlle Paddington has been with us for about a month. The first couple of weeks, he's had no problem finding and using his litter box which we put in the bathroom. NOW, for some reason, he won't go to it when he needs to use it. We have to constantly watch him to make sure he doesn't start pawing around a wall or a corner, which is a sign that he's about to GO. We then grab him as fast as we can and set him on his box where he'll do his business. BUT he'll do it again the next time he needs to go. Does anyone have any idea why?

He is only two months old? That is pretty young and he should still be with his mom learning about litter boxes. Give him several litter pans, make sure they don't have high sides on them. I use the thowaway cake pans that you can buy at the grocery store for little kittens, it works the best to have about 4 or 5 of those until they get the hang of it. Also make sure you keep the pans close to where he eats (in the same room) but not next to the food.

Has he been vet-checked? Just in case he might have an infection that is causing him to associate the litter box with pain. Coming from outside he could have caught something.
