What a cutie.
Sometimes my Frodo clams up and gets in the turtle position himself. Here's a recent pic of him in the turtle position:

My grandson & I love to see cats in that position - just didn't know that it was called the "turtle". In fact, Joey, my little manx, is in that position right now, on the floor at my feet. He's a bit miffed because I wouldn't let him step on the printer buttons; 4 of my cats have figured out that stepping on the test buttons on the printer & the fax elicit a response that includes the machine spitting out a piece of paper to be attacked!

I have never heard of this particular position being called "The Turtle Position" but it makes perfect sense. Around my house though, we call it the "Meat Loaf Position" because it just looks like a big old meat loaf to me.

And when they lay on their sides on the carpet and pull themselves along with their claws ... we call that carpet swimming. *smile* My girl, Lexus will jump up into my lap frequently and knead my legs ... that is called "doing the Pitty Pat Dance" and then of course, there is my all time fav ... the "Hurka Hurka" which needs no further explanation.

I always call it the "duck position". I think they look the way a duck looks when they're swimming on the water. All of the names we call that same position crack me up. They all make sense, though.

I always call them "meatloaf kitties" when they do that, too.

Meatloaf is the term the artist Kliban used.

Looks like Rosie is guarding the liquor supply!
