Obviously I'm new here, so...

I'm Arlyn, and I am mom of a menagerie.
2 parrots, Abby and Murphy (the teasers of cats)
1 big dog, Bear (Terrified of cats, but feels it is his duty to protect them)

And of course, the cats;
Spaz, an 11 year old Norwegian Forest cat (F)
Shadow, a 7 y/o silver tiger striped moggie (M)
Vash, 1 y/o "tuxedo" moggie (M)
Trouble, 1 y/o black and white "cow" moggie (M)

And my newcomers....
I agreed to adopt a 6 week old med hair Siamese kitten that is blind (she may yet lose one or both eyes), and I did not realize that I was getting her 'momma' in the bargain.

Ivory, 6 week old Siamese point color still undetermined, though they look seal.
Born blind and her littermates shared similar afflictions, suspected someone poisoned mom while pregnant.

Cassiopeia >1 y/o Seal point Siamese.
Cassi recently had a litter, but all died with pneumonia, so the vet gave Ivory to her to care for.

Wow, that looks way longer than I intended!

Welcome to TCS, Arlyn! Yes, you are a true animal lover all right - already a houseful & plenty of love to add more!
I'd love to see pics. By the way, do the parrots know how to say, "Here, Kitty-kitty"?
Looking forward to reading more about your unique animal-babies, esp. your special needs kitties & the Norwegian Forest!

Pictures will of course be pretty slow going.
No camera, and only one income (Yes, we're nuts).
One parrot does in fact call "Here kitty, kitty" and she laughs maniacally if any cat comes running.
She's also fond of pulling out the fur on tail tips when cats are in reach and unsuspecting.

I'm thinking though that Ivory is not Siamese at all, but a Hymie mix, she has a rather flat face, even for an apple head. Currently she has a seal point nose, chocolate point ears, flame point feet and a lynx point tail, crazy kitten.

Ahh Spaz, my Wegie...
She's not really a cat, but a dog trapped inside a 7 pound fluffball.
I may actually have some pics of her on my hard drive, or on disk, I'll have to look.

Don't feel bad - I still haven't posted any pics yet. Yes, those tail tips are sooo tempting - my hens will attest to that!
In the afternoon, I take the cats outside & the hens get to run in the yard, too, and 1/2 the time I'm yelling, "Hey, leave that cat alone!" Also, I recently rescued a Himmie - and am finding out all about those "peke faces", such as eating & breathing difficulties, but she is such a sweet, social cat! I love your description of Spaz- you described her character so well! Thanks for sharing, Susan

I've had Spaz since she was 4 weeks old.
She had food allergies and I had to cook her meals for her first two years, that was fun...
As a kitten she had a bunny buddy, they shared a litter box and food (well, the rabbit wouldn't touch the cat food).

She's our 'jezebelle' she'll come hug and drool on anyone that looks at her.
But she really is a dog, comes when she's called, every time, sits when told, every time, she's even been know to stay, until you're out of sight anyway.

She was very attached to my old cat that I had put down in 2002, they were like an old married couple, so I'm really luck to have found a fiance', and future mom in law that are cat lovers, so Spaz always has a colony to belong to.

Fiance's mom has had her house declared a non profit cat sanctuary (20+ cats and growing), so she works with her vet as an assistant to defray her vet costs, so at least vet care is never an issue for us.
Of course it's also her fault we keep getting more cats, she tells us the sob stories from the clinic, and we always take the bait.

Thank you all, this already feels very much like a 'home' to me, I'm so glad I found it.

Now I just need to find a couple of support groups...one for Kitties with Disabilities, and one for people can't say no to kitties, even though they lack room :p
