with us. We are heartbroken but the worst part is we can't find anywhere for her to go.
I have called the local no kill shelters and they don't like to take cats that are over 5 years old. She is 7...

Does anyone have any ideas? We live in Virginia....

Dianne...unfortunately most rescues are full and on top of that it is kitten season so a lot of people are looking for kittens instead of adults. There is a really good PDF called "Finding Homes for Homeless Pets"..you can find it on my rehome page:

I hope you don't mind my asking but why can't you take your cat with you?

Have you checked with your own veterinarian to see if he/she might know of someone looking for an older cat? The assistant at my vet's office said they sometimes have senior citizens who specifically want older cats as they are afraid they can't handle the antics of a young one and don't want to think their cat is likely to outlive them. Of course, I live in a community with a very high proportion of retired people, so the situation might be different in your area.
