OK, here's the deal... we got this black kitten from a trailer park (she was a stray) and now she is pregnant! She is only 7 or 8 months old, so it is obviously her first litter, and she is at least a month along. I've never delivered kittens before, and I am very nervous considering she is so young. Any tips you can give to make her first (and only) litter easy? I don't want the mother or kittens dying. Thanks so much!

I would suggest you read this thread:

Unfortunately given her background as a stray, there is no way to guarentee that all her kittens will survive. I am fostering a mom and her kittens and just lost one to pneumonia. Even under the best of circumstances..sometimes kittens don't make it. I do hope it all goes well for you.

Katie

P.S. Make sure that mom has no opportunity to get back outdoors before she is spayed.

Thanks very much! I hope the delivery goes well too... I'm still kind of worried about the fact that she's so young though. Does her being this young affect her adversely in any way?

I am no expert, but my cat Scarlette had 5 kittens 7 weeks ago and she was about 8 months old. I had no problems, she did everything on her own. And the labor was fast.
Good Luck! And keep us updated

Being young can and sometimes does cause problems in and of itself but most often cats deliver without incident. If she is only a month along, have you reviewed all of your options - perhaps you can discuss with your vet going ahead and spaying her now?
