Hey, I'm new here, and I came here in hopes of finding an answer to the question I have. I'm not a big cat person, I don't know much about them. My brother dropped his cat mittens off here, her name is mittens because she has seven toes! Recently mittens gave birth to 5 wonderful little kittys, all with seven toes! Is this a mutation or a certain bread? Please help. Thankyou

Just a trait inherited from their Mom. It is very cute, though, isn't it? If you haven't already, you will want to talk to a vet about how to care for Mittens and her kittens. And she will need to be spayed when they get a little older.

There is another forum on kitten care, if you read the info at the top-the "sticky messages" you will learn a lot that will help you care for your new family!

And after spending some time with these cats, you may find you ARE a cat person after all. Either way, anyone who helps a cat in need is a good person, in my book. Welcome!

Welcome to TCS! Congratulations on Mittens & her new family! We'd love to see pics. I just adore polydactyls. About 20 years ago, I had several kitties with extra toes; they would use them as thumbs, for climbing & picking up things - it was soooo entertaining to watch them! Please keep us posted! Susan
