I figured I would put this out here for you all to discuss with our international crowd.

One of my favorite eats is hot buttered rolls dipped in Ranch dressing, another would be the Red Lobster cheese biscuits. One thing I've noticed in the online community, is that there are American foods that we know and adore that (gasp) aren't known to any other countries. I sent a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch powder to Australia one time, and a box of bisquick with a packet of gravy mix to an online friend in the UK who, of course, is just convinced that a biscuit is a cookie-type treat... I couldn't stand the idea that they had never had the pleasure of tasting my favoritest foods!

The other day I was watching Jeopardy and one of the contestants was an American who had moved to England. She said what she missed most was Cheetos, and that they had found some in France but they were ham (or some other meat) flavored? EWWW!!!

So... everybody tell us what foods are your favorites, including the international visitors, and we'll try to explain to each other what they are and why they're so great!!!

Hmm...trying to think in terms of strictly "American" cuisine, since I love foods from all over!
Let's see...Chicken fingers (from TGIFriday's, Church's or KFC) dipped in honey mustard sauce. Love them! Pizza (of course), preferably Sicilian style with mushrooms. Chicken cheese steaks, again with mushrooms (hey, I'm in Philadelphia, of COURSE I have to puit in my 2 cents for cheese steaks!). Hershey's chocolate milk. Reese's peanut butter cups, or even better, Boyer's Peanut Butter Smoothies. Yum! Buttermilk biscuits with sausage gravy (my mouth is watering just thinking of them). New York City street pretzels roasted over chestnuts (the smell is heavenly and reminds me of Christmas).

I absolutely love chicken biscuits and hashbrowns.
It's not my favorite food, but certainly what I'm craving the most right now. It's just sooooooo yummy and makes for such a great breakfast.

Has anyone ever had Fried Chicken & Waffles? I was listening to a food program on a public radio station during a long car drive and they were discussing this. Apparently it started in Harlem, NYC and consists of a plate of waffles, topped with fried chicken and then drizzled with syrup. I'm curious to try it, but it can only be found on the East Coast.

No, I never heard of it, and don't think I will be trying it! (Yuck). But I am not very adventurous about food.

I love all foods, but especially sweets. How about Eli's Cheesecake with raspberries? Mmmm!

I don't have this often but when I order breakfast at a restaurant this is one of my favourites...

Canadian back bacon with french toast all smothered in maple syrup.

Can't get much more Canadian than that, eh?

And this isn't a Canadian thing, but...

Just went out to the 7-11, picked up some penny candy, and will be flying on sugar while watching "Meet the Fockers" until the wee hours of the morning!

Movin' on up!
Being from a Southern family and growing up near the Mexican border, my food tastes are mixed.

For breakfast, I'll eat biscuits 'n gravy, grits or chorizo and eggs.

Fried chicken 'n dumplings, tamales, enchiladas, chiles rellenos, black-eyed peas 'n ham, cornbread, barbequed ribs and shrimp scampi are favored parts of my diet.

Of course, my FAVORITE food is chocolate!

I'm desperate, and the fridge is pretty empty, so I've got a Dannon Key Lime yogurt. Yummy, but I'd really wanted something more substantial, something bad for me LOL.

Have you heard of the restaurant called "The Fat Duck" in London, UK?

http://www.fatduck.co.uk/

It was named the best restaurant in the world by some magazine and the food there is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Apparently they are based on science, through examination of chemistry to determine which molecules clash and which pairs well thus studying things like the size fat crystals to temperatures determine how proteins react.

You have fanciful things such as the following:
1) SALMON POACHED WITH LIQUORICE
2) WHITE CHOCOLATE AND CAVIAR
3) SMOKED BACON AND EGG ICE CREAM
You can click on the above link to see the rest of the menu

Since I know you are from Toronto, I recommend this restaurant called Eggstasy. It is near the old Maple Leaves Garden. It is on the corner of Church and Carlton near the College Subway Station. It has a whole range of GREAT French toast with CINNAMON flavoured Maple Syrup. It is an All day breakfast place so you do not have to wake up at silly hours in the morning to have the breakfast. Also they do wonderful things with eggs such as the egg pizza. And it is quite cheap too, less than $10 for most things.

These are probably just foods enjoyed only in Hawaii.

1. Peanut butter & Guava jelly on toasted wheat bread
2. Poke (fish salad)
3. Teriyaki Burgers
4. Apple slices with Li-Hing Mui powder sprinkled on them
