You, too!!??
I can have the WORST bathroom dreams! It runs in my family, too, my Mom has them.
I'll dream about big, nasty, wet public bathrooms, or like locker-room bathrooms, with water & toilet paper & excrement almost all the way up to the top-the stall door is oftentimes too low. I'm looking through each stall for a non-gross one..I also have sometimes pleasant dreams about big, tiled bathrooms. They are in certain colors, certain "layouts"-almost repetitive. I think they stand for certain things, but what, I don't know. I could go on & on about just my bathroom dreams! My flying dreams are a trip, & alot of times I have underwater dreams with lost cities & dolphins & killer whales.
If they ever invent a "dream recorder", I'll buy one!

Normally I dream in stories. Real stories that I could write down. But when I'm sick I dream very odd dreams. Yesterday I was fighting off a migraine and I kept dreaming that my boss and I lived in Iceland and he kept telling me that I had to be the last fishing boat into the cove because I was the only one who could handle the squall that was coming. Weird!

I one dreamt that when I opened my oven, I found a flock of blackbirds, all very much alive. In the dream I call to my friend Steve who is in the next room watching TV, for some help. He comes into the kitchen and tells me he can't help me now because they just announced on the TV that the Lusitania has sunk.

I had this dream long before the movie Titanic came out, so sunk ships were not floating around in my subconscious. Oddly enough, I dream about birds a lot.

Hypnogogic Hallucinations?

Does anyone else have these? They are a quite normal phenomenon, not psychotic in nature.

Just as you are falling asleep, that moment or two just prior to sleep, you see or hear things that are not there, a dreamlike image or short "movie". Some people get them just prior to waking, again when you are right on the edge of waking. Just before you wake, they are called hypnopompic hallucinations. They are also one of the symptoms of narcolepsy, which I don't have. For me again, birds figure prominently. Once you get over the feeling that you are crazy, they are actually pretty cool.

Hey thats what I think I get - I always get spiders and they always seem to be hanging over my bed for some reason. I know I am awake and thats when I freak out because I am so sure I saw a spider but I cannot find it.

Kellye, sure sounds like it. Years ago when I finally got up the nerve to ask my shrink about them (I thought for sure he would put me away) he reasured me that they are quite normal. Try, if you are not normally frightened of spiders, to go with the flow.

Glad to know that I won't get put away too
I am not normally afraid of spiders but it is probably the element of surprise of seeing one inches away from my face.

I remember when I had just moved into this house and I was trying to sleep and I opened my eyes only to see this big hairy spider hanging over my face - I screamed and got up and turned on my light and my flatmate (housemate) came running in thinking something had happened to me, and I had her looking for a spider that didnt exist. Boy, was I embarrassed, and she was starting to think that she had picked a crazy roommate.

Puerto Rico... land of rice and beans.
I also remember a dream I had many months ago... its a going to pee dream. Now, please understand I sleepwalk every now and then. I had the dream that I was getting out of the room to go to the bathroom desperately, because I "had to go"...

Guess where did I all of the sudden wake up... and try to guess what I was doing...

Now you know why I hesitated before posting this.
Just a tad embarrasing.

My most bizarre dreams usually involve my Chinchillas. The most disturbing (still creeps me out to think about) came after I looked at a website of "chinchilla recipes". I don't know why I looked, or if it was real, but it was posted on a chinchilla board. So in my dream, my mom decided she wanted to try chinchilla meat. So I handed her my newest fluffy white baby chinchilla, and she put her, alive, in the microwave. I'm VERY thankful that I woke up before opening that microwave.

The most recent was just a few days ago, not disturbing, just weird. My pregnant chinchilla is about to give birth. In the dream, I came into the room and found that she had 4 babies (She's only going to have one, poss. two). Three were somewhat normal colors, and one was pure white. Pure white cannot happen when breeding a TOV ebony white to a standard, it's just not possible. But then, I thought, yeah, I guess it COULD be possible, since the baby IS part Pit Bull, and some pit bulls ARE pure white.

I think I'm just weird.

I have extremely vivid dreams every night. I pay careful attention to my dreams because I feel they tell us a great deal about ourselves. I often have rather bizarre dreams, but sometimes have nightmares too. The nightmares are mainly when I am overtired and usually involve something terrible happening to Sierra or someone I care about, or sometimes some cataclysmic event. My dreams often tell me of future events, and I can usually discern these from the rest. I always listen to what my dreams tell me.

I seem to not really have any "middle ground", I either don't dream at all, or I dream the craziest things! Its a rare thing for me to just "dream", ya know? The dream that sparked this conversation was about me having a baby (I cannot physically do that)....and the baby was not my husbands!

Other things that I have dreamed.....

That someone came into the bedroom...apparantly crawling on the floor, 'cause I woke hub up telling him to turn on the lamp, as I am hanging off the bed looking for them.....but when he turned the light on, I woke up, and asked him why he turned it on.....

That I was sleeping and swallowed my TMJ splint.....woke up to find it missing......was UNDER the bed....

Dreamed that one of my male friends walked in the bedroom, I was naked and so was he......but I ran screaming out of the room....through the window....
I think that your dream about having the baby may signify something that you are giving birth to in your life, and not necessarily a child. It could be anything...a dream you have had for your future, maybe you are starting something new, and it needs a lot of nurturing or attention to grow? You would be amazed at what your dreams tell you! I think the dream of the friend was just you being in touch with your own feminine needs. I think your dream are definitely trying to tell you something!

All the time...

Jan, do you know that dreams that involve the toilet or the bathroom, are usually trying to tell you that you need to wash away or flush away something?? The bathroom represents cleansing and the toilet represents, getting rid of things. Maybe theres a habit or a person or a situation that you need to cleanse yourself of...and "flush" it away?

I almost always have weird dreams - practically every night. The other night I dreamed that I was picked up by a tornado - and I knew I had to drop myself to the ground (I was about 100 feet up) and I was holding onto the tornado when I saw a swimming pool so I thought I would be safe if I let go and let myself fall into the pool, but unfortunately I missed and landed on my back on a garden that had rocks instead of soil and I got up and went inside the garage that I landed beside. There was a family there and we were holding the door down so that it wouldnt get blown away.
Kellye, Did you know that tornadoes represent someone who worries a lot? They also symbolize a stormy situation that you have going on that you feel is out of control, like in a whirlwind...maybe theres something going on in your life, that you see as destructive, or maybe theres so much going on that you feel you are overwhelmed and have no control over....hence tornadoes. Do you notice that they never get you? Thats a sure sign that whatever has you worried wont get you either!

Now, I will tell you guys about some of my wierd dreams!! Ever since I was a little girl, I would have these absolutely insane dreams about bridges. I live in a town that is separated from everywhere else by a river. There used to be an old 2 lane bridge that you had to cross, and then they remodeled the bridge to 4 lanes....I have dreams of trying to walk across this bridge, and being terrified of the water below...I realized that bridges signified a transition in my life...and looking back, I had that dream everytime something was changing. Like when I started high school....when I started college...when I moved out and got married....but as long as the bridge appears I know that whatever I am going through that is causing anxieties, I will get through.
Another dream I constantly have is about tornadoes. The situations will change, the people may change, but its practically the same kind of dream. I am a worrier. I worry about lots of things. And I had a recent dream that I was with my husband and friends and we were running from tornadoes...it was so crazy! I realized then, that my husband hadnt been himself, and I was worried that he wasnt happy with me.
My grandmother died so unexpectedly in January, and I never got to go see her before she died, and I guess maybe I felt guilty...I had dream after she died, that we were in this beautiful old victorian house, and she was in a rocking chair on the front porch...looking at this huge garden of flowers (she loved flowers)...and I ran up to her, so surprised that she hadnt died...and I was talking to her...and she wouldnt answer me...she just looked at me...and I was starting to get upset, and asking her why wouldnt she answer me. And she just reached out and took my hand and smiled...and we sat there together, the only sound was the creaking of the rocking chair on the porch and the wind. I think that was her trying to tell me, it was ok. She was ok. I think that was my mind telling me to grieve her, let go of the guilt, and let my tears steal my breath, so that I could let it go, let her go.

I think this is an awesome thread!!!

Diane - that makes sense - I am a worrier.
Right now, my main worry is moving back home - on Monday it will be 14 more weeks til I leave for NZ and I have not started preparing.
I think thats what my problem is. I tend to leave things til the last minute and then I get all stressed out.

Oh, yes, that will do it!! I am a worrier and a procrastinator too, so that explains why we dream of tornadoes, huh? You would be amazed about how many people will call me or email me to get me to help them analyze their dreams. I am certainly not an expert...but I know a little. Everything will work out fine with moving back home. You'll see.

Diane - a question - I am constantly dreaming of being shot - all in different situations but with the same ending - I get shot. Whats up with that? I have never been near a gun and have no desire to.
