I was telling Stephanie (dawnofsierra) about a weird dream that I had last night, and I got to wondering how many of us here dream strange things a lot? I seem to not really have any "middle ground", I either don't dream at all, or I dream the craziest things! Its a rare thing for me to just "dream", ya know? The dream that sparked this conversation was about me having a baby (I cannot physically do that)....and the baby was not my husbands!

Other things that I have dreamed.....

That someone came into the bedroom...apparantly crawling on the floor, 'cause I woke hub up telling him to turn on the lamp, as I am hanging off the bed looking for them.....but when he turned the light on, I woke up, and asked him why he turned it on.....

That I was sleeping and swallowed my TMJ splint.....woke up to find it missing......was UNDER the bed....

Dreamed that one of my male friends walked in the bedroom, I was naked and so was he......but I ran screaming out of the room....through the window....

OMG yes. But let's just leave it right there.

But I do have two types of dreams - werid stuff, daily dreams that I call my "dump files" like an overworked computer that needs to download stuff into oblivion at night - doesn't mean a thing........and my Message Dreams - these are super serious, intense, come once in awhile -and I know it when it happens - sending me a clear message about something or somebody. I always listen and it's always true. The last one I had was actually a happy one. Last September I dreamt of SiSi. She was in heaven and I heard her voice tell me very loudly, "Mom I'm SO happy here, so very happy and I am fine". She was atop a grassy hill in the sunshine and smiling, prancing around. She looked beautiful. Since then I have not seen her again, but that dream was huge in my life. I knew she was ok, and Sasha would be w/o his mama.

All the time...

I do need to pay attention to the dreams where I am in search of or sitting on the toilet. It's my bladder's way of telling me to wake up and go. But some of the bathrooms are so weird - no stall partitions, or 3 toilets to a stall, stall walls only waist high, or my fav - they are all out of order! At least I haven't dreamed I was at a urinal... yet.

I dream weird things when I do dream. Nothing is actually possible in the real world that goes on in my mind while I sleep. The one that stands out in my mind the most is when I walked out of my childhood home and a white wolf was going to attack me and my mom came to protect me dressed like Rambo. Ugh...

I am sorry, but this is too funny. All those toilets. And Jasper likes to wear a thong!

Yeah, I have dreams that are so stupid that I will often forget what they are about, and believe me, they are SO stupid that it is good that I forget.

I will often dream of CONCEPTS, and they seem so real, almost tangible, in the dream, but on awakening, and I manage to remember them, it seems ludicrous that I was stacking boxes of immortality, or carrying a bucket full of state lines, or digging out the crate of ethics that was kept in the closet.

One thing I dream that is a plus, is problem solving -- if I have some onerous task that is bugging me, I will often dream a simple solution: Like a shelf brace that I installed, running from the front edge of the shelf down and back to the wall, out of thin-walled 1/2" tubing, and I wasn't happy because the brace was about 22" long, a bit long for 1/2" tubing, and in my dream, I came off the middle of the tubing at 90 degrees with a short length and affixed the other end to the wall to strengthen the brace.

A friend who is a mechanical engineer said that type of reinforcement of the brace was a valid engineering application to strengthen the brace.

I am no engineer, having completed only 1 month of the 8th grade.

I suppose it is good that I have dreams to help me, for heaven knows I have little else going for me.

The classic stupid dream was from my childhood, and back in the '30's, my mother would only let me see Gene Autry or Shirley Temple movies, and in this particular dream, I had fallen from a high cliff, and as I fell, I could look up and see the edge of the cliff receding, and Gene Autry rode up on a billy goat, holding on by its horns, and looked over at me falling, and he backed the goat up, turned around and rode to my house, got all my mother's dishrags, tore them into little strips, made a lariat out of them and lasooed me before I hit the ground.

Gene, my hero ! !

I have a sleep disorder so I have to take medication every single night. I sleepwalk, I have night terrors (like nightmares only it seems REAL), tremors, and my dreams are very lucid. I've had this disorder since a child, but after I got a concussion 2 yrs ago it became MUCH worse.

So when I have dreams, they are vivid, real, and I act them out... the medicine only keeps the terrors away. Now when I have GOOD dreams? Oh wow, they're great, sort of like being in a movie, since they seem so real!

I guess my most recent "stupid dream" was, I dreamt that I woke up and found NONE of my cats in bed with me. So I panicked, and looked through my bedroom; still, NO CATS. Which of course is unreal because all 6 of them sleep with me... so anyway... in the dream, I went looking through the house. I WOKE UP in my family room, near the sofa; woke up meaning, realized I was asleep and sleepwalking again. And Hammie and Dusty, right on my heels, following my every move... like "don't worry mom, we got ya covered". They followed me!

So I went back to bed.

I probably have more "weird" dreams than "normal" ones, but I know I'm dreaming - does that make sense? Sometimes I wake myself and my husband up because I'm laughing about the crazy dream I'm having. I did that this morning, because I was dreaming that I'd turned into a "hoarder", and the entire house was full of dogs, cats, and goats. It was so absurd that I went into hysterics, and the dream just melted away. I fell back asleep, and dreamed I was chewing Q-tips. That was a "normal" dream, because I recently read a post here by fwan, who gives Teufel Q-tips as a treat.
The oddest dreams I have are conversations with the dead - family, friends, relatives, etc., about what is happening currently. Last weekend I dreamed I was talking to a friend's mother, who died 30 years ago, about her widower, kids, and grandchildren, and about what was going on in my family. She told me something about one son-in-law, whom I know, that I'd never have guessed in a hundred years, and I'm really wondering if it's true. Before you decide to call in the people with the straitjacket, I'd better add that I've always had this type of dream, meaning ever since I was a small child, and had no real conception of death, and have "talked" to dead people before knowing that they'd died.

Oh, yes! A lot! I once had a dream that my brother microwaved Topaz when she was pregnant for 6 minutes!? It was weird! And she was fine, and her kittens were too! Talk about weird!

Most of my dreams are weird but some actually have a purpose. A frequent dream I have at night is not being able to find a clean toilet when I have to pee!! Eventually, I realize "Hey, stupid. Wake up and pee".

Puerto Rico... land of rice and beans.
Ok... I have weird dreams all the time, however the most frequent subject in those dreams is that I am readying for something with high expectations like say a trip abroad, yet the entire dream focuses on how I am packing for the trip, checking out maps and planning the travel, yet I wake up before the trip.

Now, my weirdest dream yet, was that I was learning of massive arrests adn roundups, in the hundreds all over Puerto Rico of drug smugglers and dealers... being charged not for smuggling drugs into Puerto Rico, but for not paying the 6.6% import tax imported products pay....

Yes, yes, yes!! I dream very often and there either weird or very scary, I sometimes have several a night.
I think I'm just so used to it now it doesn't even faze me anymore.

Several years ago one Friday night, I dreamt that the church I was a member of was being broken into. I dreamt of what they took, and that they started to take the sound board but left it behind because they couldn't get all the wires unplugged. The next afternoon I got a phone call from a fellow member who say "The church was broken into last night!!"... and they took the things I dreamt they did... and left a bunch of wires unplugged from the sound board as if they were going to take it but changed their minds

I also have very vivid, strange dreams about either the world ending or me thinking the world is about to end. Most of the time it involves my mom's house/my childhood home. One time lava was coming up through the dining room floor, and the entire family was running around trying to poison ourselves to keep from dying in pain... scene change, and they were having our funeral out in the driveway in front of the perfectly in-tact house saying "what a shame they all thought the world was ending and they killed themselves".

I'm glad to know I am not the only one that has the "wake up to pee dreams".
I also have very vivid weird dreams, often involving eating weird food combinations in weird places, like pickle and oyster sandwiches in a cave.
I often have terrible nightmares. Lately I have been having them about my daughter and granddaughter. I had the same kind right after my daughter was born.

I am a sufferer of night terrors - mostly about spiders and snakes even though I am not afraid of them. Last night, I had my latest episode of night terrors - I thought I was awake but I wasnt and a big spider (a St Andrews Cross) was hanging over my bed on a spoon so I jolted up and it was gone and so I was looking for it on the bed. Thankfully Jake didnt notice - normally I have really violent reactions that I take everything off the bed looking for whatever I am dreaming about.

I almost always have weird dreams - practically every night. The other night I dreamed that I was picked up by a tornado - and I knew I had to drop myself to the ground (I was about 100 feet up) and I was holding onto the tornado when I saw a swimming pool so I thought I would be safe if I let go and let myself fall into the pool, but unfortunately I missed and landed on my back on a garden that had rocks instead of soil and I got up and went inside the garage that I landed beside. There was a family there and we were holding the door down so that it wouldnt get blown away.

Also, one time I had a dream that my friend and I were going to Cambodia, for some reason, and I kept missing the plane for stupid reasons and finally I was able to board the plane and when I got up in the morning, I looked on CNN as I always do and learned that it was the 30 year anniversary since the start of the regime of terror that they went through (or the end? I cant remember) and that felt weird.
