Hi All!

Yesterday my fiancee brought home a new kitty that needed a home - a Norwegian Forest Cat, and right away, we brought her into the bathroom and she came out meawing, rubbing up on us, wanting to be petted - VERY friendly, UNTIL she caught a glimpse of our other 2 cats, then it's been nothing but hissing, growling and clawing ever since.

She is seperated in the bathroom with all her stuff, their scent is all over the rugs, but if the cats even stick their paw under the door for her to see, nothing but hisses and growls. She also is getting testy with us if she hears the cats, she wont let us pet her or she'll claw us, otherwise, it's like we're her best friend.

Does anyone have any experience with this breed of cat, I need to know if they're better off as singular cats, I could find a better home for her if so, otherwise I will take the time to acclimate her to my kitties, but I can't find much about the breed online other than history.

Also, can people please help with tips on how to get them used to eachother? My cats are SO affectionate, all they want is to rub on her and play, they're very much social cats and don't hiss at her or anything, they just watch and want to play, so what can we do?

Our little beastie is a half breed Norwegian Forest cat female. She can be a bit over defensive when she feels threatened but overall we have not had any real problems with her fighting cats in the area - we live in a suburban apartment block with home and gardens around us and it is a very cat dense area!
She seems to be more curious of other cats and wanting to hang around with them than wanting to fight them - we dont have any other cats.

I think your cat just sounds threatened and you should probably give her some more time and space to feel secure and she will hopefully come around.
Sorry, but thats all I can suggest - I'm sure one of the more experienced board members will give you some hints.
Goodluck and dont give up on her, they are a lovely breed with very special personalities!

Thanks! I did look up the info on how to introduce them, but it's always good to hear from members what works and what doesn't.
