I volunteered at a spay and neuter clinic Sunday. It was awesome, for $15 people could get ferals spayed/neutered, rabies shot, etc.

I was talking to dh about how they actually pay the vets to come in, which is well worth their while, since the vets just perform a stream of spays/neuters-on their feet for hours!

My 5 y/o son Shane overheard the conversation and said, "Why don't you just give them a free cat?" I asked if he thought that would work, pay the vets with a cat rather than money, and yes, he was sure that was a good idea!

This is the same kid who has trouble understanding why a spay/neuter clinic is such a good idea. "But I thought we liked kittens, Mom?" Hard to explain to the innocent about the overload of cats, when to him each kitty is so precious!

Sometimes I wish I lived in his world, where a free cat is the best payment possible!

Yes, he is such a cutie! Maybe I pay closer attention because he is the baby of the family, but it seems like his little mind is always working, and he just has such unique ideas.

Personally, I think it's a great idea!! Not only do the cats get spayed/neutered, but they get a good home as well!

not such an impossibility.

10years ago we were given free baby bunnies with swimming lessons (our swimming teacher kept rabbits)

and i traded a bowl of olives for Maverick.

free cat with every spay/neuter sounds like a plan to me!
