Well, I'm kind of on a flat, middle of farmland area. When we first bought our house, it had a pretty row of trees running through the yard. I have since learned that they were mostly big old scrub trees, that fall at any big winds! We do have a lot of bonfires after we clean up the wood, though! And we have enough space that they tend to fall, and don't damage anything.
I do find it very peaceful to sit out in the yard, shaded by the trees that are still standing. Even on the hottest summer day, we can catch a small breeze. And I have my outside cats running about and they don't bother anyone. Our neighbors aren't animal lovers, but they know the value of a good mouser, and certainly leave the cats alone!
