My best friend is Emma, who I met through mutual friends 12 years ago. She is my lifeline and my angel. She was my bridesmaid when I got married and the first person I ran to when my marriage fell apart six years later. She is always cooking me dinners and phoning to tell me she loves me and is just the best friend anyone could have. She has two beautiful daughters and a lovely husband, and is someone I could never live without...

Emma (she's a naughty thing!)

What a great thread Sarah!
Emma is very pretty and those kids.....

My best friend is my childhood friend from Maryland, Margaret. We met at camp when I was 12 and she was 13. She hauled my bum through the window of the dorm the very first night when I went in search of boys.
She lives in Virginia Beach and I live outside Seattle, and although we are 3000 miles apart, we talk and visit. We both have no children of our own, and have many of the same interests, even though we had lost touch for 15 years. I have six brothers and no sisters, so she is very special to me. Margaret is logical and careful where I am spontaneous; and I am wild where she is too reserved. We will be 80 and sitting on my porch, I just know it. I would post a photo but she would kill me!
She's very private but I will ask her and see~~~

Mine is Kate - she is still in NZ - we have been best friends since we were born, basically as our mums were neighbours until they moved away. We have the same personality basically - we both get obsessed with the same things, we love the same men (TIM CURRY!!!!!!) and we let our imaginations get the best of us! We actually took baths together in our teen years - wearing our swimsuits of course
and we would talk all night and play jokes on each other.
I tell her everything and she tells me everything. I love her so much.
She is currently training to be a doctor and I am so proud of her, she is achieving her lifetime dream - and she graduates in December and I GET TO BE THERE!

Last night I emailed her to tell her about last nights episode of Cold Case - it had a Rocky Horror theme and Barry Bostwick was in it, which was so awesome and we got to talking through my pager about my homecoming and we are both soooo excited as today is only 15 more weeks til I go home!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!! She told her boyfriend that he will not be seeing her for a few weeks while we catch up talking, eating and watching the Rocky Horror!

My best friend is Debbie. She is 28 years old, married and works as a dental nurse. She got married 3 years ago now and I was her head bridesmaid

Atm, Debbie and her husband are trying for a baby and she keeps on threatening me that she will make me a godmother!
Debbie has red hair so we are trying to work out if her children will inherit this as well

This is a great idea for a thread Sarah!
Your friend Emma sounds so wonderful and those girls of hers are precious!

My best friend is Elizabeth. We met in college and she was my big sister in our sorority. She was the one who convinced me to adopt Eponine even after my roommate at the time said she did not want a cat in the house (cat won
), so for that I am eternally grateful

We swore after college that we'd take a trip together at least once a year, so next month we're taking a long weekend trip to Tampa, FL. We're going to visit the Big Cat Rescue (yes, she's a cataholic too and I'm trying to get her to join TCS!) and go to the beach. She's a 2nd-year in law school and is getting married next year (I'm maid of honor
: )
She is always there for me and, even though we live 2.5 hours apart, she is always so good about calling and sending me long, cute letters and cards for every holiday or whenever I'm going through something rough. I could not imagine any friend knowing me better or being more special to me than E!

Gosh, I have several best friends. There is first my mom, who I owe my life too. Then there's Jerry, who I thank God for everyday for bringing him into my life.
But as far as girlfriends, it would have to be Lorraine. She and I have been best buds since the 8th grade when we were 14, 27 years ago......OH MY! She works down the street from me and we walk on our lunch hours everyday! She has definitely enhanced my life!

My best friend is Carla. She and I have been friends off and on for 16 years (since the 1st grade) We went through phases where we were inseparable, we went through phases where we hung out in a group, and for about a year, our senior year, we let other people ruin our good friendship. I think now, in retrospect, we were so much alike, that we needed to breakaway from eachother and find ourselves. Even to this day, she can show up at my house or vice-versa, wearing almost the exact same thing!
She was a bridesmaid in my wedding, and just someone in general that I dont think my life would be the same without. I am the more dramatic one, and shes the bubbly one, and together, we are pretty good together...like a tear in your beer good together!
We have so many good memories, and we are as close as sisters can be. She can come over and borrow things from my closet, and I can go to hers and borrow things.

Even now that I am married, we are still pretty close. And I have to see if any potential men can pass my test before she will consent to a 4th date. How funny is that?? She knows I have good perceptions of people, and I havent let her down yet.
We joke all the time that we will be pregnant together...even if she isnt married, so that neither one of is has to do it alone, without the other.
Shes the best friend that I have ever had, and I love her for it.
If I am hurt over my husband I can go to her, if shes angry over something, she comes to me. And no matter what...neither one of us is too far behind the other!

Her name is Angie. It is funny, but we only met in September of last year, right after my split with my husband. We met at a get-together of some people that we both knew. A week later, she called me and invited me to the AIDS Walk here in Portland. We instantly clicked. I have never in my life met anyone like her. She is my rock and knows me like the back of her hand. She is an amazing person, and an amazing mother. I am in awe of her most of the time. We can call each other on our BS with out the other getting upset. We have a high ammount of respect and love for the other. I dont know what I would do without her. She is the best friend I thought I would never find, and the one I've been waiting for all of my life!

I missed out on this thread when I was in Asheville, and now that I've found it I must tell you guys about my best girl friend Lauren!
Technically, Lauren and I met in 8th grade. She and her friend got placed with my group of friends on the Washington D.C. trip. Well, without getting into the details, I can just say that our group and chaperone accidentially left them at the Lincoln Memorial and that's when I met her. We didn't really become friends though until 11th grade. I remember that we were both in drama together, in fact that was her main "thing" in high school, while mine was dance. We also had chemistry together, and that's where we really started to click. I was getting her advice about whether to audition for one of the plays that year since Sunsations (the dance team) usually is pretty strict about not having time to do any other activities. I ended up auditioning and since then she's been the person I turn to for everything. When I need help, when I need someone to confess too, when I'm excited, sad, you name it...Lauren hears it! She's so much like me, people often ask us if we're sisters. We even wear the same size in everything so we share clothes a lot. After high school she went back to Manhatten for two years for school, then to Virginia with her sister, and now, THANKFULLY, she lives in the same apartment complex as me!! Just Monday I walked over to her place to borrow some milk.
Like Amy, we go on trips together every year! In fact, we're booking this year's trip tomorrow night: a cruise! She's amazing and I love her to death!!!

Here's the only pic I can find with her in it on my computer. It was her 21st birthday, she's the one on the far left (then you have my roommate Tiffany, me, and my friend Melissa):

My best friend is Erica, I met her while I was spending a year working at the zoo when I was 21.
She's exactly 3 years and 3 days younger than me, so we've always shared our birthdays.
Our personalities, and tastes are almost identical...some days it's frightening.
My own mother treats her as another daughter, just as her mother (and mother in law treat me)

I was so certain that we'd lose touch when she moved away after highschool and started attending college.
Here we are 16 years later and 3 states away from each other and we're still as close as ever.
She recently had her first baby, and I couldn't be any more proud it if were my own neice.

Kath, I love that pic of you and Lauren!
For some reason it won't let me edit my previous post on my best friend, Elizabeth, to add her picture. But here is a picture of E (mentioned on pg. 1 of this thread) and I, taken in Jan. last year in Charleston enjoying one of our favorite pasttimes together- SHOPPING!!!

How the heck did I miss this thread???? I love talking about my best friend Paula.

I actually hated her in Kindergarten, she had this beautiful curly brown hair and wonderful blue eyes and she was a goody two shoes. We were big rivals until 6th grade. I don't know what changed but we were inseparable after that. I went on all of her family vacations and she went on all of mine. We did that until we were in college
. I really became a member of her family and spend more time with them on holidays than I do my own family. She's really more like a sister than anything else. She has been there for me every single time I've needed her. We were even roomates in college and joined the same sorority!!!! Even though we look nothing alike, people would call me Paula or her Kelly because we were together so much. We've only gotten in 1 fight since we became friends and it was my fault, I didn't want her to get married. I tried my best to find faults in her fiancee. I knew I wouldn't spend as much time with her and I didn't know how I'd cope living somewhere without her. Fortunately, she still makes time for me and although we don't get to spend as much time together as we would like, we're still sisters.

This picture was taken at her bridal shower. Far left--our mutual friend Michele, in the middle is Paula and on the right is me!

I
you, Paula!!!!!

She's gonna be so touched/embarassed when she sees this!!!

Awwww, when I first read your post about E, I missed the part where she convinced you to adopt Eponine
Isn't it amazing how much our best friends affect our lives?? It's awesome that you two still take trips together! I need to talk to Paula about the yearly trip thing! Girlfriends ARE forever. I'm so lucky to have Paula as mine, I truly don't deserve her.

My best friend is Sara. Recently she moved to Bethlehem, PA which is about 8 hours from me now. I've only seen her about twice in 6 months. The funny thing is we didn't like each other at all until we had an algebra class together in 10th grade and from then on we were inseperable. We also are special because we were both born on September 9, 1985 and born almost 12 hours EXACTLY apart. She is like my sister and will be there til the day I die. We've always been there for each other through thick and thin. We have a relationship like no one else, seeing as how we are like twins!

Courtney

PS This is a great thread!
