I feel so very very bad for my cat Lucy. I gave her babies away to VERY good individual homes this weekend. Now she is roaming the house crying her little heart out missing them. It makes me want to cry. They were 8 weeks old. I was under the impression that is when you do this. Now reading this forum I find that is not the right thing to do. What in the world can I do for her? I have made her so sad! I know I sound crazy.. I am not.. just feel so sorry for her (besides I miss the 5 kittens).. is this normal for the mother cat to look for her babies after you give them away?

Yes, it is normal - it is sad to watch and the best offer of suggestion I can make to you is to try to engage her in her favorite play activities. Give her plenty of quality time and it will pass.

Best of luck,
