I'm currently fostering my cat Peter's sister, Claire, who was adopted before Easter and returned to us unexpectedly this weekend. She's being housed in my spare bedroom, with all the necessities, until we clear out some of the kittens in our main foster home in a few weeks. I'm not planning to let her have any contact with my two older cats, but am wondering about letting her have contact with Pete. They were separated at the end of Jan. and haven't seen each other since. Both of them love other cats and I would hate to see Claire isolated during her stay (of course, I'll be spending time with her), but am wondering about the wisdom of them having contact.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

The biggest concern would be weather or not she picked up a virus while she was in her new home. If neither are sick in any way, you could try to re introduce the two.

I agree. If her health is fine and she has ben fully vaccinated and is compatible with yours (i.e. a spayed and non spayed kitty may not get along). And since she has been in a new environment, she may not even recognize her sibling. Cats sense each other and people and their surroundings by their smell. It's why two cats who are bonded may even hiss at one another when one comes home from a vet appt.

Since they've both been fixed and had same vaccinations I let them have a little contact this morning. They sniffed each other, then she hissed and swatted at Pete. He seems to have that effect on women (female cats that is!)
