When I woke up this morning I went to MidNights litter box and noticed that her stool had blood in it. I know she is female......could she be menstrating or does she have something else wrong? She is about 7 weeks old and I am not sure if cats menstrate that early. Thank you for you input in advance.

Cats don't menustrate. Blood in the stool at a 7 weeks old is a vet visit. Please get your kitty to a vet today if you can. Blood in the stool can mean parasites, a bacterial infection, or any number of things.

Ah that does not sound good. My Mom told me that she was just having a monthly thing. Now I am a bit worried.

You have every right to be concerned. Your kitten is young- blood in stool for kittens can be coccidia, giardia, worms, even distemper. Please tell your mom that this kitten needs a vet to find out what is wrong. If mom wants to give your kitten something other than what a vet would give you to give to this kitten, please don't let her. Over-the-counter products even those made for cats or kittens can harm or even kill. Your kitty really really needs a vet-

If it is a money issue, then just ask your mom if you can take a fecal sample in to the vet. You just need a popsicle stick, and a plastic bag, next time kitty goes, take a scoop of her poop with the popsicle stick and seal it in a plastic bag. Get it to the vet quickly. If you can't get it to the vet quickly, but the sealed plastic bag in the refrigerator. Also take a label and print your cat's name on the bag along with your name and give it to the vet. But the vet may also want you to bring the kitten in as well for an evaluation-

HIssy is right!!!
I bought a new kitten from a pet store about 2 weeks ago. When I got him home I noticed from his first bowel movement that there was blood.
Is it mucasy blood? That is what Garfield had. They did a stool sample and found COCCIDIA!!! It can be taken care of with an antibiotic called ALBON. They even have the ALBON shot. It wasn't that expensive here. The oral ALBON was only about $15.00. And when that wasn't working ... they gave him an ALBON shot. That was about $13.00.
But please get your kitty checked right away!!!
The sooner you get your kitty to the vet .. the sooner she can recover!!!
Good luck and let us know.

Most kittens are born with worms so de-worming a kitten, usually done twice two weeks apart, is common. De-worming is a good starting point but you should see your vet.

Kitties can get COCCIDIA from contaminated water or drinking from puddles, worms come from their mom's who can get them just from roaming around outside. It could be she ate something that is damaging her insides causing the blood.

Let us know hat the vet says!
