I know I got Indie and Minx back in september, but because of all the nasty stuff that happened I can't even remember what date I bought them home, the vet said they were about 3 weeks old, and i think I got them early september so they were born in August sometime...but they have no birthdate

I think my post ( asking for help here the night before I collected them) may have been lost in downtime as I can't find it, would it be silly of me to give them a birthdate, near the time of birth? As i'd like them to have one...or is that a silly idea? I was thinking of choosing the 11th August as that was my grandads birthday though it could be a week out! What do others think?

We don't have a date for any of our cats..and that is ok to us...we know what month and that is all I feel is needed...

You do what makes you happy...it doesn't matter what others do.

Oliver was adopted from a private home, but they weren't sure of the exact date - even though he was born in a box on top of the coffee table! I picked August 1 as it was the closest I could estimate.

Tripod was a found kitten - very small, ribs sticking through his sides - filthy dirty and so tiny. It turned out that he was small for his age, so I had to adjust his "birthday" accordingly to May 26.

They really don't mind as long as you have a nice party for them with special treats involved.

I dont think it really matters as long as your celebrate some time for them!

Jess' is 10th April and Alfie's is 23rd March - as far as I know those are official days but as long as you have a rough date, kitty wont mind as long as he/she gets lots of fuss and treats!

August 11th it is! Often that is how it goes with pets, we either assign them a birthdate or at least a birth month. Don't beat yourself up about forgetting their gotcha day either! All they care is that they survived due to your good care, and now are living happily ever after.

I think it's nice to have a particular date, even if you don't know the real one.

Only once have I known the real one -- my first kitty came to me at seven weeks and the people knew precisely when the kittens were born. When the next two came to us, six-year-olds, all we knew was their age and that there was about six months between them. Well, we were celebrating Shasta's birthday (June 6), so Gryph and Nibs had to have their days, too. We chose Feb 1 and August 1, to keep their relative ages, and spread the three dates through the year.

Next pair was Suzy and Sam, whose birth home was more than a little disorganized. The people could only tell us "Six weeks? Eight weeks? Something like that. Debbie would know." But Debbie wasn't there. We counted back seven weeks, and landed on my Mum's birthday. Seemed fitting.

Then came Cindy and Fawn, who were rescued at probably about 5 weeks by a friend of my mother-in-law. We got them at about five months, counted back and landed on her birthday. Seemed fitting. BTW their birthday (4) is Sunday.

11th it is then, will make a sad day for me, a day with some happiness involved, and I think everyday must seem like a birthday to them, spoilt pair

that's what i did for Cable - just picked a day in the month she was probably born in.
Pixel actually HAS a birthday, but i'm not sure when it is...sometime in early September.
my new kitty - i don't even know how old she is yet, so i have yet to choose a birthday for her.

When you don't know their exact B-Day, the only thing to do is guess-timate. I don't know Angel's exact B-Day, so since I found him on January 5 and the vet said he was about one year old, I'm going to celebrate his B-Day on January 5. With all the presents I've been buying him you would think every day is his B-Day

There's no place like home
I know the actual birthday for 3 of mine. The rest I've made up birth dates to the best of my knowledge. I pick holidays - Earth day for the April babies, 4th of July for the summer crowd and Labor Day for the fall ones - kittens born around here usually fall into that timeframe naturally (as if they all go in heat at the same time). The adult strays are hardest to assign but I go with a random date for them. I think they all deserve a day of special pampering and treats (as if they don't get them year round here)!!

We don't know the birthdays of any of our boys. They were all rescues. So, instead of birthdays, we celebrate their adoption days!

Pearl is the only one of mine with an actual birthday. My sister has her brother, and the people that had their mom said they were botn on July 4, 2000.
The rest are just guesstimates.

I have no idea when Lily's birthday is, or her exact age. (She's probably about 3.) So we use the day we brought her home as her birthday.

I have no clue when Mistoflees was born. We got him in August, but he was about 8-10 weeks old. He came from a no-kill shelter, and even they couldn't figure out just how old he was. He was wandering around a construction site. So we say his birthday is sometime in August.
Sneaky came from my mil's. She found a stray, she was pregnant, then she asked us if we wanted a cat. Of course my kids and dh said "yeah"!
And get this, she traveled 600 miles in a car to come here (lol). She didn't like it. Still doesn't like car trips, probably b/c the only time she goes in the car is when she goes to the vet, and they give her shots (lol). She was born April 14 or so.
