OK, yes, she's not terribly bright. But she also doesn't need to be, doesn't have any reason to use her brain for more than picking out the outfit for the evening.
Easy to say she's a "whore" or "slut" because of that video, but how many of us can say that we've never had sex with a boyfriend in the past? The difference is that if said boyfriend made a video of it, it wouldn't have spread around the world in a matter of minutes. We're not rich and famous.
My guess is that she is a very bored, spoiled, rich girl, who doesn't know any different than exactly how she's living her life. To the rest of us, Wal Mart is simply a part of life, but she had never even heard of it until she did The Simple Life. I can't comprehend a day in her life anymore than she could comprehend a day in one of our lives.
I can appreciate your opinion, and although I would agree with much of what you've said, I think you should be speaking from an "I" position, rather than generalizing and speaking on behalf of anyone who is not rich and famous.
As I stated before, I don't hate Paris Hilton, and I do not know her personally, so I think hating her or any other person I don't know on an individual basis would be absurd. I don't even hate George W. Bush (Fahrenheit 9/11, anyone?), so why would I reserve that feeling for Paris Hilton?
As for Paris Hilton living a life of blissful ignorance, I believe that if one has the means and opportunity to use their wealth and business savvy for a purpose larger than oneself, perhaps it should be seen as an obligation. There are many celebrities who, according to the media, spend big bucks on and donate their time to worthy causes. Even Pamela Anderson, who many also think is a "whore" because of her plastic appearance and publicity due to a stolen sex tape, has a conscience. She is a PETA spokesperson and a vegetarian who defends the rights of animals. Perhaps Paris can use some of her personal affluence and influence to further a cause she actually supports, outside of herself? Same goes with Britney Spears (how about her brief cameo in Fahrenheit 9/11?). These women are old enough to know better, famous or not. We are all human (despite cult of and celebrity worship) and anyone with a conscience and a good heart feels the need to give back. I think that is why some people are irked by Paris Hilton, because she seemingly has no concept of altruism, which makes her downright ugly and contemptuous.
She has only achieved fame because of sex and family money, which in no uncertain terms amounts to power. And she certainly has power when it comes to media (and obviously, over consumers of media). What I think is truly sad and disturbing is that young girls are now looking to her as a role model. But what does she actually have to offer?!? If you want beautiful celebrity, look at Beyonce. She's sexy without being sleazy, talented, hard-working, and apparently good-hearted and spiritual. Why hasn't she achieved the role model status that Paris Hilton has? I have my own theories about that.
