You know what I am so done buying horses. First off, I buy my filly and her buddy back, they are way underweight and have lice. Ok fair enough TLC..and all of that.

Well now, this little mare I just bought. Well this deal has gone to hell. They insisted on on hauling her themselves. If I paid for it. Fair enough. I said cool, no problem. Well the horse was supposed to be in the barn by noon today....11:30 I get a call "We cant get her loaded" I give them some suggestions. Includeing a way I dont like, but it will do with a stock trailer in a pinch, back it up to the barn and just run her in. Dont give her any other opitions. Well..noon comes, I have to get home and let the dogs out. So I leave the money at the barn with the barn owner. And let he know I will call her as soon as I know whats going on. 1:30 rolls around, and the girl whos selling me the horses SISTER calls me. I dont know her sister. I have never spoken to her, I am not making the deal with her. And she nearly jumps down my throat about how they have been at it since 9am this morning, they have four people working on it..this mare will not load, we cant get her loaded...we can haul her today but its gonna be dangerous..bla bla she wont be in one peice. she says I need to get a professional or trainer to haul her. I make a small simple, not snotty statement that, the seller had insisted on trailering the mare, which is why I had paid her to do it. And didnt make arrangements with a hauler. She jumps all over me about that well shes not trying not to bring you your horse..Yap Yap Yap. I tell her, Ok i will make some calls, but The SELLER needs to call me back! Not her, the SELLER. And speak with me. Now I could probably go and get her loaded myself, its a 45 min drive and I took off work today for this. So Techinaly I am loseing money. My favourite comment when I got a call at 11:30 was "well its getting late and I have other things to do" well now I dont mean to be a bitch. But according to my contract and my money your thing to do today is BRING ME THE HORSE.

So Now I cant get ahold of her. She wont answer her sell phone. after I called a trainer pal of mine, who lives close and said if they will Haul her on Tuesday as my friend doesnt have a trailer. She will go out there and load the horse for them. No problem they just have to haul her. Two days of board money I lose which isnt much in the long run but enough to make me mad. I got ahold of someone, i think it was her mom. Who was surprised she isnt answering her cell phone. But will give her the message. GRR somehow I am not shocked she isnt answering. since she HAD HER SISTER CALL ME. Bare in mind she is an ADULT. I wont deal with minors.

But I am just hooting mad now. I had evetything ready..busted my butt scheduleing. Got her deposit in prompt order, waited patiently for a week after that for the :censor::censor::censor::censor::censor::censor::censor::censor: contract. Got the cashiers check for the remainder which is to be given at time of delivery, as well as check for delivery price. And No horse. I am considering the market paying a bit to much for the horse. To me since I know her lines its fair enough. But really for a very green unregistered four year old, 1,250 is a bit much. Since I will have to bite $500 into registring right away. In a normal market I would say even as she is would be worth more, since her daddys stud fee is that. But given the market.. nope no way. But I like her, and The Sellers mom needed to get her sold, due to medical problems so I thought I would be nice and go with it. They wanted 1,500 but 1,250 was settled on. I sunk 250 into a deposit, and $120 on a booking fee for this mare. Since with contract in hand, and money ready to go i didnt think there was gonna be a PROBLEM...Now I dont know. If I dont get a call back soon, I am ready to just bite it and tell em no deal and take my remainder money somewhere else...*sigh*

I know it's a pain buying horses and it's a pain selling them. It sounds like those sellers don't know what they heck thier doing. I mean, why is it your problem that they can't get thier horse to load??? Sounds like you may have lost your money. It is AMAZING how many horse owners are that are out there that have NO CLUE about horses. Im sure they knew she was hard to load and that's why they insisted they haul her. They probably figured they'd just beat the **** out of her and make her go in. That's probably how they got her there in the first place. But now she realizes that the trailer is BAD because she connects the beating with the trailer.

Oh, I'm sorry you are having trouble with the sellers. Why would they say they will bring her knowing she won't load for them? How frustrating for you. I hope this works out, if not you should get your deposit back!

Well I knew she would be a loading issue myself, She has never been off the property. But STILL. I have loaded horses that were hardly halter broke and not had much of a problem. I think they are letting the horse push all over them. Their excuse is "we dont want to deliver a cut up horse" well no one wants a cut up horse. But if it gets a bump or bruise that happens. I am just mad that they couldnt work with the animal before hand? I mean come on. if you know a horse has never done something before..DUH? But oh well. What can I do. I have someone moving my other horse tommrow. But I know they cant move this one too. Especially on such short notice. Which sucks. I just want the damn horse, Dont think it should be that much of a problem. But uof course it is.....

Somehow Its MY problem because its MY horse and "Shes been taking care of it even though its not hers" Funny I only have the deposit down, She doesnt have the rest of the money..so the horse is still hers...Hmm oh well. I am just mad right now. And if i had my own trailer would be up there right this second getting the horse in the darn trailer. ITS NOT THAT HARD! You put a rope across the back and and make sure the only thing they can do is walk foward and into the trailer..WOW so hard.....Lordi. *sighs*

Nope no horse yet. I called a trainer friend of mine, who lives just up the road from them. Who is willing to go over there and Load the horse FOR THEM. But they have to haul her. But shes playing phone tag, and dragging her feet and not calling the trainer. How nice is that? Ah well time to get stuff arranged. GRRR.

What are they loading her into? A two-horse- they need an open stock trailer at least. I know one of my horses won't load into a two-horse because some *expert* decided early on to teach me how to load him. She terrorized and bullied him and when he did get into the entrance of the trailer he reared up and slammed his head against the top. Every time I tried to get him back into my control she pushed me aside- she is passive/aggressive. To this day, it takes an act of congress to put him into a two horse- but he loads in any other trailer just fine.

I hope with all these problems she is going to be worth the money and heartburn she has already caused you.

Its an open stock trailer. Which is why I am so confused! I know its a pain in the ass to get one loaded into a two horse. even my mare who's a pro sometimes isnt so happy with the idea of getting in a two horse, she will do it just has to think about it.

I hope its worth it too. The mare is a very nice mare. Very nice. Not worth all of this aggrevation. But I like her, and to me its not a principal thing.

My fiance thinks part of it could be she may have decided she didnt want to sell, and wants to keep the deposit..so shes trying to get us to back out. Guess we will see what happens. Left her another message letting her know I will be up all night and she can call me. Guess we shall see.

... What Hissy said. They should KNOW that a horse that hasn't loaded isn't going to just walk right into an enclosed trailer. It is MUCH easier to get them into a stock trailer with its semi-openness. Really, the day that you have to trailer a horse somewhere is NOT the day to start training them to load! (or you have to know their bribe point. Petra would load for a carrot. Petra would do ANYTHING for a carrot, lol. I think she must've been a bunny in a previous life
.)

Heh..like I told hissy. It IS a stock trailer. Thats the scary thing. And has me wondering WHAT they are doing to get this horse to load..of course...

They could be doing what I saw one guy doing once...standing with lead rope.."please get in, please please get in" oh yeah they are gonna do it when your saying please. Yeah ok......not to toot my own horn but I sure would hate to drive my butt up there..and take 20 mins or less loading the mare...*shakes her head*

Sorry I beg to differ on THAT Statement. I had a mare who refused to load and got a trainer to load her for me. He did just what you said AND she reared up and came down on her front leg and the leg was never good after that. She also fell over backwards and almost knocked herself out. She lay there for a while with blood coming out of her mouth. She was my first mare and I was heartsick!

She needs some grooming that is for sure. And probably about 25lbs, as well as some supplements for her coat. The picture isnt the best, but in the flesh she looks pretty good.

But yes once I have her in my possession she will look 20 times better. I tend to do that. Just like with my two I got now, that have lice and are underweight, we are doing before and after shots once i have them all nice and done.

Shes a sweet mare and bred very nicely hopeing to get her squared away and breed for a colt. But of course not until I am satified she is in the best of health.

I am sorry that happened to you. and I should revise my statement and make it Usually. cause yes it does not always work. But usually it will work, or they will "sit down" I have never personally had one rear on me. I am sorry you did. Truly am. I hope she was ok once she got up.

I know loading CAN be hard. but they say they had four people there. this mare isnt wild off the range, shes a pet, who is well mannered and halterbroke, even green broke to ride. So I just suppose myself dont understand why four people couldnt get her to load in a stock trailer.

I did get a call back, and we are shooting for Thursday, my trainer friend will be heading over there to load her. Hopefully it all works out just fine. She did admit one thing to me, which does explain why the animal probably did not load, and appologized for it.

She got angry, and frusterated. When you do that with a horsr thats never loaded before..it feeds off that..and it goes from there...
