Usually known as Becky. I have 2 cats in my house, Garfield and Festus. Festus is the brown tabby girl, she was born here. I found her Momma at work in early April 2004, and brought her home where she had 4 beautiful kittens 4-7-04. The Momma was adopted out, as were 2 kittens. I added Garfield and his brother Odie when they were about 8-10 wks old, about the same age as my litter. Within a few days, Odie died of distemper
, Gar was back at the vet, and their Momma was in critical condition. Gar and his Momma pulled through, and I brought Garfield back to my house. (His Momma was adopted out!)
By this time I only had Festus, her sister Mattie
, and Garfield at home. The other 2 kittens had been adopted out. Unfortunately, Mattie got sick and died of FIP
. Originally she was the baby we were to keep, but by this time were so attached to Festus and Garfield...Also, we weren't sure that they wouldn't end up with FIP, so I couldn't see adopting them out. We were so crushed with the kitten deaths, and we had actually already promised Festus to someone! Once she heard about Mattie, she kindly decided not to adopt our Festie
! So through many adjustments and changes, we ended up with Festus and Garfield.
I also adopted 4 ferals for outside. One is Josie, who really isn't a feral at all. She is very nice, but from what I hear will not use the litter box. So she has lived outside here since last fall. Of course where the ferals keep to themselves, she sat all winter on a nice heating pad in the garage.
Then our beloved Wills showed up in the garage. He is a gray and white tuxedo kitty, with gray marks on his nose making him look like a little piggy. He is the most loveable guy ever. And since we have 2 barns & 3 horses, we really do need a good barn cat. (While Josie is sweet, I doubt she would know what to do with a mouse if it took a nap in her food bowl!) And Wills' nemesis, Tommy hangs out here. He is a big brown tabby who tangles with Will on occasion. Someday, I will get him trapped and neutered, and I'm sure he will quit fighting. And yes, Wills needs to be neutered also.
I have an Akita inside, Misty. We have 3 horses outside.
Oh, and the humoon side of the family. DH is wonderful, we have been married for 12 years. I have dd Jessie who just turned 22, and ds Ben who is 16. They are from my first marriage. And dd Lexie is 9, and ds Shane who is 5.
I'm a nurse at an outpatient psych clinic, and am considering treatment for my addiction
to The Cat Site!
