In a nutshell, it doesn't last as long as promised on the side of the jug.

Nano also was a little put off by the crystals and only grudgingly accepted having the stuff in her litter box. She wasn't satisfied that her turds were sufficiently buried, so she spent a lot of extra time in the box kicking and clearly became frustrated a couple of times. So now I use a deep layer of the hard clumping litter.

You have made an exellent point.

Watching the litter box for changes, is an important tool that I use to help keep track of my furkids health.
I guess with crystal litter that would not be possible.
I think that I will stick with what they are using now.
Thanks for the feedback.

I thought it was great - small packages, lasts a long time, but found that Jamie didn't agree. The first type I tried consisted of little "balls". He not only kicked/scooped them out of his litter box, but also down the hall and down the stairs. Then I tried irregularly shaped crystals. He did #1 in his box, but found a partial bag of his old clumping litter on a shelf in the cellar, and did #2 in the bag. I discovered that shortly before I was supposed to take him to the vets' office to see about his 2-day "constipation". I now have a bag of crystal litter that has been collecting dust here for over three years.

i use FreshMagic crystals and i'm very happy
they do not smell, but true, they will only last half the time stated on the bag.

I use round and chunky, but prefer chunky because it doesn't roll. I've used other kinds, but LOVE this one because it deals with odors so well.

I really like Tidy Cats Crystals Blend. My older cat doesn't like the pure crystal kind and my first can't didn't like it either. My two cats seem happy with the blend however, the odor control is great and it clumps hard.

I've heard a lot of folks like the Crystals but I don't like the way it turns yellow when the cats pee. And the only litter I've found that keeps smell at bay is Fresh Step. Every once in awhile I try something else and it's a big flop!

My boys seem to like the Tidy Cats crystals blend. It seems to keep it less smelly than just the regular ol' stuff. Now if I could just get them to keep most of it in their box!

My mum uses the crystal litter for her two cats and really likes it. I think she likes the low maintenance of it. I don't like the fact that you can't see how much the cat peed though. So I use a corn litter called "Clump and Flush".

I also use the clumping blend. I found that it does help to keep some of the odor down and there are still clumps so I know my girl is tinkling frequently.
