Okay, I sound really desperate! Our rescued 4-5 week kitty now is having difficulty weaning, and that makes me worry a lot! She was rescued when she was 1 week old. Never had any problems with drinking her milk. About 2 weeks ago, she was attacked by our dog but fortunately didn't sustain major injuries, she just went into a panic mode but after 2-3 days, she was okay again.

So for the past week she has not been eating her targeted amount of milk, she pushes her bottle away. She is eating so little, but she's very, very active. I've tried giving her milk on jar lids, but she won't bother them. Tried mixing KMR with canned food on her bottle (with the nipple cut open) but she vomited her food (I guess she can't digest her food well). What I do is squirting KMR in her mouth then she'd lap it up.

I've given her 0.6cc of Karo and pedialyte to help her hydration and blood sugar level up. Any more suggestions on how to wean her? Will get her to the vet too, but I'm not too happy because the vet might not have anything to say. Anyway-

I would love to hear your suggestions. I hate weaning kittens, really.

Thanks Gayef, I'm hoping soon! I'm really worried about her health. All she wants to do is play, sleep, litterbox, all day around!

Hi all, have a question.

I have a 4-5 week old kitty who we recently weaned. She was having problems eating. She would vomit everything she had eaten. Poor baby. I've tried giving her canned food, she'd eat it but vomit a bit. Given her milk from her bottle, she'd drink enthusiastically, but vomit again. If force-fed, she'd vomit again. We had her dewormed about a week ago. This never happened before with her, but I guess I attribute it to her weaning (since I had a kitty before and didn't eat a lot when being weaned, but never vomited).

We brought her to the vet and they x-rayed her for possible obstruction, but none was found, except for an enlarged heart. Poop were inside her, maybe it may cause her to vomit since she still wasn't defecating for a couple of days. We're getting so worried because she isn't eating, but she would drink water.
