Yeah, it's a weird request.

We're having problems with our hot water heater and possibly the plumbing. Our heat/hot water system keeps losing pressure and there's a possibility we have a slab leak. I REALLY cannot afford this to happen right now!

I'm having nightmares of them tearing up little holes all over my house to find the stupid leak!

Please send good vibes that it's NOT a slab leak. I'd much rather it be the whole hot water heater before that! Maybe, just maybe, it will be something simple!

Will be calling the oil burner guy first thing in the morning again...

Oh, I hate that helpless feeling you're probably feeling right about now. I find that a brisk walk around the neighborhood can help with stomach knots.
Best of luck to you!

Amy, my prayers are with and for you. I hate plumbing problems, also. A thought, since your house seems to be on a slab, with the water pipes in the concrete, if that DOES turn out to be the problem, then perhaps shutting the water off at the heater and re-routing it UPWARD into the overhead (pvc, of course, its easy, cheap, and fast) and maybe come down through a wall close to the kitchen . . . . but that's not going to help the bath or the laundry rooms, is it ? Another alternative to ripping out concrete would be the little "On demand" heaters that mount below the sink.

Best of luck,

Leonard
