I just had my female cat fixed 3 weeks ago. Since then, she won't stop asking for food, which she never did before. I'm worried to give her to little or to much or if she has some kind of worm... Also, most of the time when she eats dry food, she vomits it later on. Why? Is that common?

Thank you so much

Hello Ladies

I have absolutely no professional advice to give. BUT, I just wanted to say that perhaps it's hormonal changes? Makes sense to me since every time I have PMS I could eat ALL day. Well, I could anyway... but you get the point!

Mika was vomiting pretty frequently (even on me once), and I had a hunch that he had over-eaten. BUT, my husband noticed that he was tearing off tiny bits of his scrunchie (his favorite toy) and swallowing it. We took his scrunchies away a week ago and gave him a "similar" small toy made for furry people... no barfies yet.

Hope all turns out okay with you!!

Thank you so much for your respond. I will check if there is anything Mira eats in the appartment that is not appropriate...plants, toy, toilet paper... Hope you'll have a great weekend and thanks again.

Hi Diane,

If your girl is an inside kitty, and you've not had any issues with fleas (as then she would have tapeworms almost guaranteed), I doubt you need to worry about any worms. If you are seeing abnormal poops - really strong odor, slimey or bloody, soft or diarhea, then that may be a sign of an issue - worms or other parasite, and I'd take in a stool sample for your vet to test.

Re the vomitting - is the kitty a gobbler who just inhales her food? If so, sometimes raising the food dish will help, or you can split her food into several smaller feedings during the day instead of free-feeding (or even if not free-feeding, just cut the amount at each feeding and increase the number of feedings).

How old is your girl? I know you said she was just spayed, but that doesn't tell me if she's still under 1 and perhaps having a growth spurt

Hi,

Thanks for answering my question. My girl (Mira) is almost 7 months. I rescued her when she was 10 days. She is my first cat. Even though we had cats when i was little, i don't remember that we had these kind of problems. I try to alternate dry food and cans until she will be fully grown. Now, I don't think that the dry food makes her sick... It is something else, but I just can't figured out what. I might bring a sample to my vet, because her poop is sometimes as you described it. I know that sometimes i worry too much but i can't help it, she is my baby.

Thank you so much

Diane
