Had the noon news on today and thought I'd pass on the latest.

One of the guy's lawyers is asking for his client's case to be thrown out due to a technicality.

The other guy accepted a plea agreement whereby if he stays out of trouble for a year his record will be cleared. He also has to complete 50 hours of community service at the Vanderburgh Humane Society and the city animal shelter.

Here's a link to the old thread if you missed the story the first time:

I wish they would have been punished in a more harsh way. Animal abusers get out of trouble way too easily. It really burns me up

wal mart must hire a lot of abusive people because my neighbor had to call the cops cause a walmart employee started to fight him for standing in the parking lot talking to a friend, my friend (who apparently is more apt at controlling himself) called their corporate office and the guy got fired, but good grief can't we even get groceries without people trying to harm us or our pets?

Yea... they should close wal-mart... then I would save a whole lotta money!!! hehe
But all jokes aside... those involved should be punished. Not excused in an unpunishable way.
Of course it is OUR justice system speaking for that poor cat!!!

Heard on the news today that the guy who wouldn't plead guilty was sentenced to one year probation, a $500.00 fine & 80 hours of community service. The reporter on the radio also said he got a good talking to from the judge.

Thank you for the update! I'm sorry that the guy who pled got less community service time, though! I hope that the townspeople don't let those two idiots live this one down. And I hope that the truck driver who brought this thing to light gets public recognition for his courage and compassion for speaking up.
