HI.. My cat is due any hour now to have kittens. I want her to be fixed after this litter. (It is her first and last) I was wanting to know how soon after she has her kittens can I get her fixed? Do I have to wait till she is finished nursing to fix her? Or is it possible to get her fixed a few days after she has given birth?

well in uk the vets only usally spayed cats after litters gone dunno where you are it might be different.

i would keep her and kittens in till they are gone and she has been spayed as i always feel it wrong to do a op on any animal when they nursing

but everyone intiled to their own option

Most advise to wait until the kittens are weaned to get mom-cat spayed, unless there are complications of course. Just be sure to keep her indoors and away from intact males as she can go back into heat quite soon after having her kittens.

i'd ring round a few vets and see how early they are prepared to spay. each vets holds a different opinion on this so you cant really make a decsion until you know what they are prepared to do.
