okay.. come for help i suppsoe.. I am going to be fostering a pregnant mother cat.. I am going to pick her up tomorrow. She was a stray and was terrified of people.. but now after a few weeks at the shelter she has finaly grown to trust. But they noticed she was growing bigger and sure enough she is pregnant and due any day.
But I am afriad that because she was a stray and did trust people, that when she comes to my house she will go into hiding and have the kittens in my boxspring or in the closet behind boxes.

Now I have never had an unspayed cat.. so I have never witnesed a birth.. I am afriad something horrible will go wrong if I am not there or something... so any info on the birth will be greatly apprecieated.

Also someone told me to let the cat eat a few of the birth sacs.. but only a few.. to tkae away the rest of them.. is this true? Should I take it away? Also, should I buy a syringe thing to suction the mucus from their mouths?

I am looking foward to this birth very much.. just scared of a few things.. any help will be greatly appreciated. =D

I would let her eat all the placentas she wants, she needs them for strength, and if she doesn't want them she will just leave them for you to dispose of. There are some good websites in the stuck and locked threads in this forum that will help you with your questions-

While you are waiting, you might want to read through some of the stickys at the top of this Forum's Index ... there is a lot of good advice and some helpful hints for you so you can be prepared when the next one comes in. Thank you for doing this - the delivery of kittens is quite special and I am confident you will do fine.

Also, if another pregnant queen comes in, you might want to go ahead and take her a few weeks before the delivery if she is friendly enough. That way, she can get to know you, your home and routines, and grow comfortable enough to have her babies there in her new environment.
