My mother put my cat (Lara) on a leash without my knowledge and let some neighborhood kid play with her. Now she calls me at work and says Lara ran away! I'm so angry right now, but worried about Lara.

Lara has a collar with my number, so hopefully a good samaritan will find her. She's never been out of the house before, and I've had her for about 2 months. Do cats typically find their way home? I'm really worried now.

how ling has she been missing? the sooner you act the sooner you will get her back. the longer you leave it the further she can potentially travel

is she spayed and/or in heat?

Put some of her litter in your yard, she'll smell it and know she's home.

She's spayed, just missing since the afternoon.

It's gotten worse. I wasn't that worried at first, since she had her collar and tags and I figured someone would call me if she was found. But when I got home, I found out the collar and tag had fallen off somehow and now she's out there without any ID.

I've made a flyer and there's an animal shelter/vet that I can post it with. I've also put some of her litter on the front porch and told some of the neighbors.

There's another website to try: www.catsinthebag.org
It was extremely helpful in getting a lost cat back who'd been missing for 5 weeks.

The sooner you follow the suggestions on that site and/or the one Hissy gave you, the better.

Best of luck - sending good thoughts for Lara to come home soon.

Great news! Lara came home yesterday, at around 1:30AM. I was trying to sleep, and all of a sudden she walks into my room! I left the back door open for her, just in case. She just played for a little while, and went to sleep next to me like nothing happened. I was so happy to see her. Thanks to all of you for your support.

Great to hear Lara's home!!! Make sure to check her carefully for any wounds or signs of injury she might have gotten on her "walkabout". Hopefully, though, she's fine and has had enough of wandering around by herself!
