Oh, I would think 2 years from this summer would be good??

Susan, you have to plan on flying into Cleveland and then we'll fly out of here together, ok? ( I need you to hold my hand!)

I agree with someone else who said that having it in the middle of the US is the most fair location. I'm swaying back toward the Mall of America. We just have to do it in Spring or Summer because I DO NOT think I could survive the winter temps there
Susan, what would be the most fair for our European members?
I think the USA is no problem for us, and if we arrange it for say 2 years from now would it be best to have it when it's warm but not too hot?.

So what about september 2007?

I agree- 2 years sounds IDEAL to me. I just wanted to give MA and Anne some leeway about the time..
Don't want them feeling pressured.

I agree with Kellyyfaber - it sounds fair to have the convention in the middle of US. (I would have LOVED to have the convention near DC since that's near my home though!) wink.

Kittylover4ever suggested Mall of America in Minnesota since that seems the best "middle" location...

Okay... heres my questions:

Do you want it in a place where there are beautiful tropical beaches? (You know where I am going here!
)

Do you want it in a place where its extremely easy to get a very luxurious convention hall?

Do you want it in a place where the hotels are emulating of grand European hotels?

Do you want it in a place where there are grand casinos reminiscent of 1950s Cuba?

Do the young ones want it in a place where you will have no legal troubles for buying a beer?

Its Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Anyway, I am willing to try for any place you people decide.
But my other nice suggestion is the Florida one.

Well, we have abundant tourist opportunities here: Tour guides, tour buses, Disneyland is just outside of Los Angeles, movie studios to tour, Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flaggs Magic Mountain, The Hollywood Bowl, lots of fun night life, and so much more. Not to mention, you can end up having lunch right next to someone famous. The weather here is nice, with very little humidity. It usually, doesn't rain except in late fall, early spring, and winter. So, you could expect to always have a sunny day, unless the convention was in January or February. There are loads and loads of hotels, and motels, and lots of places to hold a convention. not to mention the fact that LAX is a main airport hub, so it's usually cheaper to fly into LAX than into some of the smaller cities.

I do agree with whatever member said it should be near a major airport (i don't remember who it was). Middle of the US might not be such a big deal if we can have it near somewhere where cheap airfare is an option. I am up for saving to travel anywhere! Just gimme a date and I'll be there. Are we brinig our SO's (for those of us that have them) or leaving them behind with the cats?

I think I would have more fun if Shy (hubby) stayed at home with the cats. I don't want to worry about him having fun while I'm hanging out with everyone. I would feel better leaving the cats in his care than someone else's, too.

If it's too hot wherever we have it, just wear less clothing!

Everone seems to want it where they live!
-Not me though. Winnipeg is cold. It's actually hot in the summer, but last year we broke a record for a miserably cold one!
I think Mall of America sounds good, but I guess I'd go anywhere. I think it's probably best if it is somewhere where there's an international airport. 2007 seems so far away, but for planning something of that scale it sounds just about right. I hope some people can bring their kitties!

I wouldn't be surprised. There's a hotel in the Florida Mall down here in Orlando. I've actually never been to taht part of the country. I get freaked thinking of going places where there's no beaches!
No I'm just kidding! But, I really haven't been anywhere over in that direction, but BF's mom has to go to Minneapolis once a month and I hear it's pretty.
