I'm new! And I have a new kitty!

Hello all!

A buddy of mine told me about you all - and I'm happy to be here!

I adopted a cat last week (named: Smidgen) and look forward to being a cat forum member.

I've had cats all my life, but she is the first I adopted on my own. (My last cats have shown up somehow, or someone else found them). I'm very nervous about being a new mama again! My last kitty was Tess, who died at age 22 - I had her from high school to my 30s and I was afraid I couldnt "love again".

We'll see how it goes. I'm so nervous about the new cat thing. I want to be a good mother.

give them lots of love while they're here...everything dies at some point but as long as we love them all we can while they're with us then it's all worth it!

Congratulations on your new addition! You must miss your precious Tess so incredibly much, she now watches over you from Heaven
You're taking such a big step allowing your new baby into your heart, it can be so difficult to let ourselves love again after such a terrible loss.

Amber sure looks like a Bobcat!
How is such a wild animal as a pet? And how did Amber befriend you out there in the wild?

All your cats are so beautiful and sweet looking!

Amber and Boris are both bobcats. (Boris says hey, don't forget about me now
) Having bobcats as a pet is well, in a phrase, a lot of work. When you own an exotic animal as a pet, it is a life changing event and you must be responsible. I can not stress that enough. Amber was not taken out of the wild, in other words, we did not find them. They came from a licensed breeder. They came from a breeder, but they are still 100% wild bobcat. My wife and I are devoted to their well being. You must be willing to give up a tremendous part of your life for their care, because that is what it takes. Amber and Boris share their home with 5 domestics as well, whom they love to pieces

AWWW.. I am pretty new here too but WECOME!!!
Cats are like kids... of course you can love again.... But you will never forget your first "baby".
