hi! i just registered here tonight ... more like this morning. i noticed around four this morning that my kitty has some weird swelling on her belly. she just got spayed about three days ago, and she's my first cat so i'm very worried about her. wish her luck at the vet tomorrow. we still can't decide on a name for her yet. she looks and acts like a princess buttercup but she walks around like a monkey showing off her butt in the air. so princess buttercup or monkeybutt. it's yet to be decided. she's part manx and domestic shorthair and supposedly part bobcat. she has huge hind legs and short little front ones. she's the light of my life.

i was wondering, i started using the arm and hammer litter, and it was great at clumping, and i loved it but it was impossible to get off the floor because my cat got it all over the floor several times a day. any ideas on how to prevent getting litter all over the floor or atleast keeping it to a minimum?

Welcome to the site! Kitty is beautiful!! She looks like a Princess Buttercup to me too.

Although it isn't foolproof, using a covered litterbox, or at least one with higher sides can drastically reduce the amount of litter that ends up flung about.

thank you to all of you. i found out today at the vet that her inner stitches might have come undone and they think that her intestines might be escaping and that might be causing the swelling. she goes to surgery first thing tomorrow morning. wish her luck and thanks again for your support.

the vet called a little while ago and i didn't get the call. she left a message saying that she is awake and she is fine so that is comforting. here's a picture of her as a baby.

well my little kitty is home and resting now. thank all of you for your help and support. you don't know how much it's meant to me. the doctor said that her inner stiches had in fact busted and her organs were spilling out or her body cavity and the swelling was her intestines sagging against her skin. thank all of you who advised me to have her check out immediately. i might have waited otherwise thinking the swelling was normal after spaying. here she is resting after her surgery. she looks so precious with her elizabethan collar.
