I think P.Kitty had a seizure...how do I know for sure?

Hey all.
We took P.Kitty out on his harness tonight and he was acting normal and then suddenly he went into complete slow motion. One paw was slowing moving forward and back (like a sick version of those chow-chow-chow commercials), the back end of his body curled really strangley toward the ground, and his tail kinked up in the most odd way. He tried to walk it was like an exaggerated comical walk. His face was intent, but he did not react to my touch or my husband looking at his face. Almost looked like a whole body cramp. Then he slowly straightened up, and within 3 minutes was looking in the rocks for fun things to chase, acting completely normal.

My husband thinks the vet will just charge us to tell us that they don't know what happened. I'm panicked! What could this be? I'll take him to the vet in the morning, but my imagination is dreaming up terrible things!

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

He is fine, overwhelmed by the scents around him, possibly passing close to an rather intense scent that grabbed his attention. Possibly seeing a bird that you didn't notice, but nothing to worry about.

Thanks, Hissy. We go for walks a lot, and I've never seen him like that. Really wierd. I'll keep an eye on him just in case, but maybe now I can sleep tonight (with my little guy right on top of me as always). Appreciate your support.

I got neurotic and called the vet the next morning. She said it was probably not an emergency, but she thought it did sound like a seizure. So I took P.Kitty in today, and they are doing blood work on him. Poor guy as a big lump on his throat where they shaved him and took blood. The vet said it is either a one-off type thing, or something more serious... My fingers are crossed that is was just a freak episode from eating a spider or something....

Oh gosh! I am sorry. From what you described it sounded so typical of how my cats are when they stalk birds, or insects. I did not mean to give you the wrong information, and I apologize.

Your information wasn't bad... this is probably just a one-off incident, and I'd have thought the same thing you did if I hadn't seen P.Kits stalk enough lizards in our yard. And rushing him to the vet wouldn't have changed anything... but getting a good night sleep helped everything! So no worries - I appreciated your support more than I can say. It helps to not feel alone worrying about a cat, you know?

Really - please don't feel bad. Your advise let me stop and think it through.. and that is good. And now I know I should work on my dramatic writing skills :-)
Thanks again, Hissy.

P.Kits blood work came back, and he looks healthy. So your advise was right on - it was a fluke. But I am happy he's got a clean bill of health.
