Do any of your cats ever use the jedi mind trick on you?

By jedi mind trick i mean this....

We have 3 cats who jump on the bed in the morning all either trying to find a comfy spot to sleep ON the cover or UNDER the cover ... for most of us this is pretty standard stuff. So... 2/3 of the 3 cats usually only manage to wake us up if they come right up to our faces and sniff us or claw us depending on what time of the morning it is... ONE of our cats has... this sort of ... i'm not sure what it is actually but basically she is able to wake us up merely by jumping onto the bed. We can be in the deepest sleep but when she jumps on the bed we always just know that it's her... and out of the 3 she is the lightest... so she doesn;t make any noticeable impact when she jumps on... it just sort of feels like she's sending us this ... i'm coming up now... wake up and let me under the cover silent mental message.... so as soon as she lands you sort of wake up and open your eyes and there she is....

it's the weirdest thing...

we've labelled it her jedi mind trick

so it's true then... cats can communicate telepathically....

i've also noticed that if one of them gets stuck in the cuboard the other ones will sort of sit outside the door until i open it... even if the other cat inside the cupboard is not making any noise....

that's cute! i used to have a refrigerater that meowed...it really sounded like a cat and it used to trick everyone...people would walk to the fridge and open it looking inside for a kitty, it was the strangest thing

i'd like that - did it have some kind of gadget that did the trick?

That sounds like one cool fridge!
excuse the pun!

Tibby and Molly always do the Jedi Mind Games - I just lift the covers and in they go!
They really are controlling us!

Cute! I can imagine her sending the message, "This is not the sleep you're looking for."

To the penalty box with you! Five for bad punning!!

Bella has a great trick where she can make you think you're going deaf.
She opens her mouth to meow, looks like a scream, and no sound comes out!!

Pixel does that, too - it's called "the silent meow"

the silent miaow.... it's like the single most effective form of communication known to our feline friends... often used when cat feels it needs to appear completely defeated

AAAAHHHHH, so THAT's why she does it so often in the kitchen when I fail to dish out the canned food.

"Aw, meowm, dry kibble aGAIN?"

I don't know if it's a Jedi Mind Trick, but Ophelia can make you go to sleep any time she wants. We call it Kitten Magic. She likes to snuggle with someone when she sleeps, and when she wants to nap if you are laying down and she comes and lays on you to snuggle. Game over, lights out...you're snoozing within minutes!

To counter.. My three have no such subtlety.. Gibby miaows non-stop until you open the back door, and then miaows to be walked, miaows to play, miaows to be fed, miaows to have the taps turned on....

he just never be's quiet! lol

And he bites you on the butt when you're on the loo.

This is so funny because it's so true!!! Yes, my cat Penelope pulls the old "jedi mind trick" on me all the time!!
Molly has a much less sophisticated method of waking me up -- she meows loudly in my face until I come to!

Anyway, great post, turtlecat!!
