just curious...do you have an evil mother-in-law, or a nice one? mine hates me and has caused problems since my husband and i first got together 6 years ago, i know i'll never be "good enough" for her...but the messed up part is that she's a horrible mother!

she is weird, she says im good for her son, but i dunno my bf says that she has said it to all of his ex gf's.
I just stay on the nice side because i dont want to get into any fights with them.
I think she is evil sometimes... but i dont comment that much to my bf.
She actually thinks that she is the best and that she can cook great, she has put me down a fair bit. And she thinks that she has changed me because i cook by the time bf is home ect. But she just hasnt, and she is irritating me

yeah, mine thinks i've corrupted her whole family...and her son that is the worst of the bunch (hardcore drinker/druggie) can do no wrong! and it's all my fault if any of her kids do anything she doesn't approve of...i've just learned to accept that in her eyes everything will always be my fault, the really messed up thing though, is the son that's a heavy drinker has a girlfriend who's a stripper, heavy drinker, big time coke addict, and she just adores her!

That could be said of all my inlaws, EXCEPT my MIL! I have to admit to being priviliged enough to have had one of the sweetest MIL's in this world. She treated me like one of her children as long as she was alive.

Probably because she's afraid if anyone who's truly "good enough" gets ahold of her kid, they'll discover just how horrible a mother she really is.
Sad but true. . . ?

I am very lucky to have a wonderful mother in law. And father in law. They have treated me like family since day 1. I spend time with her too, we go out to lunch and shop and on Saturdays, I just go and watch tv with her after I take my mom lunch. I have never experienced a terrible mother in law. I mean, sure, I diagree with some of the things they have said and done, but thats normal in a family!

My last boyfriend's mother was amazing! She treated me like a daughter... I think because she only had sons, and my ex was the oldest.

The whole family was so "normal", and I would have been happy to marry into that family (and I could have, but that's another story).

My MIL is great. I never had a good family life but my husband has a wonderful family. I never really experienced a normal family until I met them. That's a big reason that I married him.

I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from, Kelly.

Wow those who have great MILs are sooo lucky. Mine is from hell. She is the devil incarnate. Need I say more?

She made our life living hell since day one, she did not want Jake to even meet someone and threatened me so many times, got to the point that it became abusive, physically, mentally and emotionally, and so we had to leave and have not seen her for the past 5 years. She threatened Jake - told him to choose between her and me. Of course he chose me. We are not the only people to do it to - she did it to her ex hubby (FIL)

It has been a long 5 years, recovering from the scars that will take a long time to heal, for all of us. It is believed she has borderline personality disorder - and the symptoms do fit!

I have a great mother-in-law. As is true of all of Rob's family, she's pretty reserved, so it takes a while to get to know her and for the formality to begin to break down, but she's never been anything but welcoming, and now that I do know her, she can be downright fun!

My mother-in-law is great, and sometimes rather funny. She stopped by this evening to ask whether we could move up our next trip to Hungary by a week or so, because some friends are pestering her to join them on a church-organized pilgrimage, and she really doesn't want to go, but doesn't want to hurt their feelings, or give excuses. If we move our trip up, she won't be able to go, because she has to cat sit. She won't lie , so I guess we're going early!

I love my MIL ! She is great to be around. I sometimes call her up just to talk and exchange recipes.

Hmmm, I should probably take her with me when I go shopping - she has good taste too !
