The Humane Society here has a setup that if you register as a feral colony caretaker, you can get lower priced spays and neuters, which is a good thing. My colony is all spayed and neutered, but I was considering registering them anyway, because some of my neighbors, I am afraid, will try to hurt the cats. I believe the Humane Society shares this info with Animal Control.

Have any of you heard of such a thing, first of all, and have any of you registered your feral colonies?

I would instead make a trip to the shelter and tell them that you privately TNR a few feral cats a year. That is what I did, and the shelter gave me a handful of spay and neuter gift certificates that I use. I would not register a colony, unless required by a law.
